I would like to see WalMart put in a SuperCenter with a grocery section in the Crofton area. Hopefully the people that are against this project will not have the final say. I'm not sure what authority our Council has in this matter, but hopefully AA County will, in the end, approve the plans for construction. As for an increase in traffic, make WalMart responsible for creating new traffic patterns. The crime rate won't go up simply because a store is present, it's the people in the immediate area and obviously, we don't have that problem. Anyhow, Walmarts are good for the local economy by providing jobs and it forces all the surrounding Mom & Pop stores to lower their ridiculously high prices to something more reasonable.

Best thing that could happen to Crofton. These people that don't want it there will be the first one in the doors when Wal Mart opens. As far as crime goes....take a look around you now. Can't even make a bank deposit unless you are stabbed. Can't go to Gold's gym unless there is a fight. How about the shooting in the parking lot of the Crofton Bowling Alley. Don't forget the child abuse cases and the sex offenders, wife beaters. You have the crime there now just look at who your neighbor is. Wal Mart doesn't sell crime. Wal Mart opens the door for employment. Get the kids off the streets and get them a job. It's the people that cause it. Most of them are from Crofton.

I foresee serious environmental degradation, in so many ways.(1) Filling in the floodplain and paving a huge parking lot will make downstream flooding worse.(2) Lost habitat for the Great Blue Herons and other birds that move up and down the Patuxent River corridor.(3) Pollutants from urban runoff will go into our Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay - oil drips from parked cars and ten-thousand discarded candy wrappers.(4) Increased traffic - more dalays on Route 3 !?!(5) Noise from more cars.(6) More air pollution.(6) More light making stargazing more difficult.
It breaks my heart.

Your crazy if you think that adding a Walmart in Crofton will not change the landscape. You would see worse traffic which is already terrible. Why do we need it?? If Walmart is where you want to shop spend an extra 5 mins and drive North or South and the glorious Walmart will appear. I know that it would be nice to have a Walmart at every mile marker...... I don't believe Walmart in Crofton will add anything to the community when you have many retail stores in and around Crofton that fill the need. A Walmart in Crofton will make that area more congested than it already is. Please dear God keep the Walmart out of our town!! Thanks
