I've never seen any tax on any tobacco product that I didn't like. Anything such taxes take in is more than offset by harm and damage smokers cause.

Yep, good old good for nothing republicans. They think they can just say no to everything without ACTUALLY doing anything besides protecting profit and corporate interests.

SHhhhhh. You repubs who would reply. You are too stupid to actually know something. I'm not actually talking to you. tell your mom to call me.

Taxes are a part of Business, and People pay Income,Sales,Federal,State, County and City Taxes. Giving Tax exempt status to a few Businesses to "keep a promise" sounds more like doing favors at the expense of the Taxpayers. If the Businesses will fail without it, that's Business. All Americans pay Taxes. These Business owners are getting Social Assistance/Welfare from the State of New Mexico to deliver Addictive substances to the people who cover their Taxes and underage smokers. People are free to choose to smoke but the rest of us shouldn't pay for it. What does the Governor promise to the Citizens she rules? We all are paying higher fuel Taxes due to the cost of Gas/Diesel and Natural Gas and Propane will she give us exemptions?

So she refuses to change the law that was imposed before she was elected, Sounds like the good old boy (democrats / Lunan) network in Sante Fe are the ones who created this mess..

But we ubderstand you liberals and democrats are still sore that she got elected.

Tobacco receives Millions of Dollars in Government subsidies and aid in advertising overseas from Taxpayers in America. This Tobacco, which is addictive is then pushed to Children in Countries around the World to addict 'new' customers. Your Tax Dollars also go to raid and kill in these same Countries for their crops that come to America such as Marihuana and Cocaine. So you support addicting Children while paying no Taxes that we all pay. Can't afford the Taxes on your Drug of choice, Nicotine, quit. Just don't let these Drug Pushers get away with no Taxes. How much Bailout Money did Tobacco Corporations already receive?

Yes, online purchase are next. Now these sales taxes must be collected if the business has a physical presence in a state. Also some states want the buyer to report and pay this tax on his/her income tax return. Many states are trying to pass legislation to collect taxes on interstate sales. It will be a nightmare for online business to calculate the proper tax for each locality/jurisdiction. Some online merchants have ceasd sales to certain states requiring the collection of sales tax for online sales. I pray that Americans are smart enough to vote Dictator O'Bummer out.

It's no nightmare for business or anyone to calculate the proper sales tax. There are programs and charts that have it all figured out for you. True some business have opted out of sales in certain areas, but it is more of a protest than anything else. They feel that if they collect said tax, not only will they lose a their price advantage but encourage other states to jump on the bandwagen.

That's "degenerate".

The United State of America was built on the Tobacco Industry. Don't take away, or penalize free choice of the American Public. You won;t cry today, but one day you will with this sort of Government control.

Don't let the libs fool you, that tobacco is supporting terrorist Al Queda acts, as Obummer claims. It is him, and his cronies that are commiting the crimes to America.

Take that wonderful mexican gun running sting, brought to you by the BTAFE.

True there are charts and programs but they are very complex and NOT correct. There are cities where the sales tax will vary by which strip mall or even store you are in. When I order online the ZIP does not identify my city because the single ZIP cover parts of 3 cities, therefore the tax is not collected correctly and goes to another city.

If someone doesn't like cigarette tax, just go to an Indian reservation where not tax is collected.

Bring more then two cartens into Maryland and you are a law breaker. If aperhended you will pay a fine, lose your cigarettes and have your car taken away from you. Under certain condiations you might also lose your home and/or be charged with aiding and abetting terrorist. If so charged and convicted you could spend the rest of your life in prison.
Keep in mind once a DA gets on a roll they tend to go full steam ahead.

OK, Don't do it in Maryland. I grew up in NM where it is still legal as far as I know. Also there are no state taxes if bought on base at the PX.
