Readers, I represent Chief Greyeyes-Navajo Code Talker.(I'll help you translate in parentheses as we go.)

"Nation Department of Corrections hopes to hire people already living on the reservation or bring those back who maybe have moved away."
(translation: Hollywood should update their tired line of 'Those poor Indians are forced onto strange reservations against their will')

"Every facility will have Navajo Employment Preference, as is standard practice within the Navajo Nation." (translation: so much for Affirmative Action's claim that 'EEOC is the law of the land'. More succintly,'Sorry Whitey, back of the line for you!')

"A large programming area in the correctional facilities will be for us to bring in resources....", added Greyeyes.(translation: Money, Money Money, other people's Money, Gimme Money, just Money, taxpayer's Money, Money taken out of the free economy)

"Compared to what it is right now, mostly we are just holding and not providing any services because there are no spaces available for that kind of work at this time." (translation: Non-Indians who choose crime get slammer-time as punishment, as always. But if a Navajo makes that same choice, he earns ELEGIBILITY STATUS FOR SERVICES!)

"Every facility will have Navajo Employment Preference." (translation: Every Navajo gets a check just for being a Navajo, but just in case there is that 1:50,000 Indians who feel guilty enough to actually earn their paycheck can do so at a cushey job at this Indian Jail. Just a thought.)

"Navajo Nation, Department of Corrections Manager Delores Greyeyes wants to clear up the misinterpretation that the justice system comprises solely of jails." (translation: It's casinos, it's wellfare check-cashing, it's food stamp-for-booze convenience stores, it's Meth supply contacts, it's free college money at
Mom-n-Pop America's expense, it's cradle-to-grave medical care for a school girl's 5 children from 6 different fathers. Most importanly, it's just
one more way to stick it up White America's arse, because they OWE US.)

"The main problem for some new employees might be finding housing, which is scarce throughout the reservation.(translation: We're not exactly crammed together in this dirty hovel surrounded by barbed wire like you kid's text book say we are.)

"But a good, stable job might attract commuters who live 50 miles or more away." ( I explained to Chief Greymatter that many Americans
who work in the industrial Midwest commute 100 miles away and have for decades just to keep a job that pays any kind of health insurance. She lit up a Peyote pipe to signal her indifference)
