Does anyone know if the suboxone strip really helps someone with an a drug addiction? I am a parent of someone with a problem and i need to know if this way will help, or is it a cover up of the real problem and is just another way of getting "high"and just another waste of my time and money?

Believe me, I know from experience, Suboxone can be successful in weaning someone off of opiates, it just has to be done short-term. The key to success is doing it in about a week. I know 2 people who have been weaned off of opiates in rehab with it, but they only kept them on it for a week to 12 days, starting out with 1 strip a day, then gradually tapering off through the week. The starting dose and tapering schedule really depends on the persons body weight and tolerance. But they must not stay on the suboxone long term or they will become addicted to the suboxone as bad as the drugs. But if used correctly, it will get someone off of opiates without the horrible withdrawals. Also, it only works for opiates. You didn't mention which drugs they had a problem with, so you just need to know if won't work for meth or benzo's (nerve pills, like Xanax), or any other drugs. I have had personal experience and know many others who have, so this info is very accurate. I really hope this helps you.

There was a girl in Scott County named Kaley, she used to pimp herslef out for suboxene strips until she got pregnant from one of her "johns".So no,that drug for drug trade is no better. Many people go looking for that"suboxene High".Putting them in long term inpatient rehab is the only chance they have, then even that doesn't work alot of times.Once a pill head always a pill head.

I have 3 relatives that used them for a trade off...( just like the methadone) no success. Long term rehab is the answer.best wishes for you and your family!

You people really should not talk about what you have no idea about. If they are trying to get clean leave them to it.Have any of you never made a mistake in your lives. Methadone does not give them a high it keeps them from being sick I am a nurse at a clinic and I should know you nerd heads. If you are a serious person about cleaning yourself up it is worth it although it is not a cake walk but and it will not happen overnight but if you really want to change the way things are it is worth it....

Methadone is used for the treatment of opiate addiction. It has nothing to do with methamphetamines. You should try to educate yourself BEFORE opening your mouth. Although, I can understand how an ignorant person would simply revert back to elementary word matching and... DING!!! METHadone MUST be the same as METHamphetamines. LOL

Please try it with your child. Do not be misguided by the negative post. It has been very successful for the treatment of opiate abuse. There is no time line, this is not a race. I applaud you for helping your child get clean. Opiate withdrawal is very harsh and painful. Suboxen helps relieve the symptoms of withdrawal, giving the user a chance to get clean.

Good luck and stay strong.

cts can not stop using the drug.

Sorry I should have deleted the last sentence from my post. It was a simple error. Again, good luck. Many people have beat this addiction, it's not impossible.

Yes subs will help I used to be an iv heroin and cocaine user. I went into rehab and now have been on subs for 19 months. I also do NA any anonymous group plus having a therapist. It doesn't cover anything up it just helps get the body feeling normal so the upportin can work on the mental and spiritual side of the disease. Good luck and hope you use this for your child. God bless
