This author has a repertoire of characters which he eliminates by way of murder or natural causes. It's a tricky thing to do but, when done it has a deep impact on the story. His descriptions of his characters in my opinion are believable. Gallicchio seems to like using one liners such as: "Reward your friends and punish you enemies" Here is another one liner from the book: "A time to be born and a time to die" These are words best sellers come from. I am impressed by this new author, and I loved his book. I categorically recommend reading Men Without Redemption.
