UGO is a small privately owned company of around 35 stores. The company doesn't offer its employees much besides below average wages, no raises, 4 or 5 paid Holidays and for the full time employees they get insurance with a one to two thousand dollar deductable before it starts paying. The store in Crossville didn't have heat most of the winter so you froze if you shop there and really froze if your unfortunate enough to work there, now they have decided to stop giving their employees any breaks, none, they are not allowed to get a drink, sit, take a breather nothing. The poor women that work the trucks in the back room which has no air conditioning in over 90 degree temps get nothing to drink or risk getting fired. What kind of people are the UGO owners?

They do not have to put up with it. If the company is breaking the law, it should be reported.

I worked there part of the winter and some of the summer...yes its freezing in the winter, and you sweat to death during the summer. I felt very bad for the stock people,I just ran a register. I pretty much for fired for not asking right before I went out to smoke,I had asked 20 min before but they got busy up front so I chose to stay till they were slow enough to not need me. I walked out smoked and then clint comes, talks to me like a 2 year old and then says if you can't obey rules we'll have to let you go....they seem so nice, until you work for them. And clint...you should really treat the employees like adults instead of demeaning them because it makes you feel better, that's not the Christian way that you claim to follow.

The trouble is, 5 minutes after you report them the women at the labor board picks up the phone and calls Anthony at UGO

Just so everyone knows, UGO is like a bent and dent Salvage grocery. The only fresh foods they receive are prieviously refused by other grocery chains. if walmart gets some questionable product that they refuse, UGO gets it. Same with other chains. A few months ago they sold ground beef that was a year out of date, frozen then thawed. If you are on food stamps, they could care less.

Right now there are pallets of Oscar Mayer Bacon setting in the back room that clearly state "Refrigerate" that will never see temps below 90 degrees.

By the way, it's Oscar Mayer Pre-Cooked Bacon. It says "Refrigerate after opening", and it's only $1.29 per box. It is NOT suppose to be refrigerated - 90 degrees or not!

I am a girl I worked their. I always thought it was cold but mostly comfortable. Anthony hired me cause I was a pretty girl. So he is sexist. But clint was a sweetheart in my eyes. But the best boss was john... when he did work their...

Hey, I have worked there a couple of times between other jobs and you apparently got a grudge against them cause they are pretty good to work for. Sure they don't pay much more than minimum but what grocery store does and i have worked several. Benefits are bout the same at grocery stores. and my friend says they do get breaks. I think its 10 minutes every 4 hours of work. It's not like working at a big paying plant but it's about the same for all the same types of stores. Course, if you don't like it, just don't work there or shop there. No need to grip.

The breaks that "backincrossville" are referring to are smoke breaks i believe...which was a big deal at the time but i think most of them have already gotten over it. They get lunch breaks of 1 hour per six hours of scheduled work...but most work about 8 hour shifts plus a 1 hour lunch.....like 7-4, 8-5, 9-6, 10-7, the occasional 11-8 or 12-8. It is currently colder in the store right now due to it being 88+ temperatures for the last few weeks and the heaters have been fixed for quite some time now; so it is warmer in the winter months. The wages are minimum (7.25 currently). The job i have been told is pretty easy to do but it is still WORK; you are going to sweat a little; that is just the way manual labor works.

And also they are allowed to drink anything as long as it is not alcoholic; i believe that the cashiers thought must keep their drinks in the back at the break area or in their lockers mostly to keep from spilling anything on the cash registers.

I buy my MEAT there all the time. I have never had GNATS in my MEAT. I have never seen a GNAT in their store. They do have a 100 percent guarantee on their food items so that if something is not right they will replace or refund (with receipt) if something is not right.
