The Tansi Sewer Utility District(TSUD)recently posted the schedule of fees for sewer service in Lake Tansi and along Dunbar Road. How do they expect the elderly on a fixed income, the under-employed and the unemployed to afford this? How can anyone afford this?$5,950.00 to hook up then $50.00 + a month for the service? Yeah, I'd be getting "serviced" alright.
They neglected to mention the lien they will place on your home if you don't pay for their "service".

Residential property
$1,500
Multi-family residential buildings shall pay $1,500 per residential unit
Non-residential property

$22.50 per 1,000 gallons over 2,500
Monthly water usage will be rounded to the nearest hundred gallons.
Other charges
Service call:$50 per trip
Late payment charge: After 15 days, 10 percent of monthly bill

Can they legally place a lien on your home?

According to state law residents can be 'compelled' to hook up to sewer service.

That should not be allowed. Do we, as Americans, have no say in anything anymore!

Yes. We do have a say. WE have to put forth the effort to make ourselves heard. If we stand silent, they do the kind of thing they are trying to do in Tansi.

I live in Tansi and I have no idea where my husband and I will get the money to pay for this!! And there are so many homes for sale out here that I could never sell mine and get the hell out of here!! It's ridiculous and we definitely need to make some noise about it!

I don't know where I'm going to get the money either. VEC had tree trimmers out here this summer and they cut down my money tree by mistake.

There's some guy with several signs in his yard near the golf course on Dunbar rd I think, he is getting a petition together, go there and sign it for all our sakes. This sewer thing is just to support a few wealthy organizations/individuals who want sewer so they can increase land usage near the beach and golf course. DO NOT let them do it. There aren't enough people to constitute needing a sewer and there are so many roads that they will have to destroy the community building it. Maybe not initially, but once it's there it will spread to new customers. It's bad. It's an attempt to drive up the cost of living in tansi so as to drive out lower income families and raise property value. It stinks.

On FB you can read updates if you look for Stop the Tansi Sewer
I signed the petition this past Saturday.
One thing I didn't understand when you start looking at all the crap is why does each homeowner have to have their own grinder?
The whole thing is reeks of "scam",but at least the
SC utility district has pulled out of the contract with Tansi sewer..or has started the ball rolling to get out of the contract.
Just a thought

A basic rural setic system will run you $4500+ and it needs to be pumped every couple of years. Sewer does run a little more then septic but so what. If you do not like it then put in a septic.

Do you know what a grinder does? If not it is like a garbage disposal, grinds all the toilet paper and turds so that it will flow down the lines.

Yes-thank you I know what a grinder does, but having lived on a sewer system prior, not every homeowner had their own grinder--perhaps I didn't pose my question correctly.

No offense but your one to talk. TO date I have never seen you post anything anywhere that had any actual content of any value or interest whatsoever.

I will not pay anything, I and my fellow petitioners will bring this idiocy to a halt using the democratic process. Majority rules, and the majority of tansi residents, regardless of motivation, do not want it here. Do you even live in Tansi Lizzy?

Nope. I just like my community. My thoughts are of the best interests of the people living in it, not the people running.

You guys should look up some pictures of ongoing sewer projects and look at how much infrastructure damage is ensued by it's installation. Tansi doesn't need a sewer system. That is all.

I was irritated because Lizzy attacked me for no reason. As is becoming more and more common.

The standard tansi septic system is under $2500.Only needs to be pumped every 10 or 20 years. And once sewer is there the state does not allow septic systems to be installed or even repaired.

Thus it's a money trap

Here's another thing that most people have not considered:

The reason Tansi is so beautiful is because half the lots in the community do not "perk". For those of you who may not know, that means that the lot has enough loose ground to install a septic system, i.e. no bedrock beneath the property to obstruct the fill lines. The sewer system would remove this barrier to developers, and within a decade all that beautiful scenery wil lbe completely and forever destroyed, thus annihilating the very thing that draws people to Tansi.

The sewer favors developers and investors, and shrugs off the needs and financial concerns of the voters. It is by this virtue alone a BAD idea.
