Well i can tell you from experence that i would not send my dog to that school. When i moved my child out of that school she was 2 years behind all the other schools. It was terrible what she had to go through to get caught up. I called and talked to central office about the matter and they had already had several calls about the same thing. they told me that they were trying to fix the problem but it would take awhile. If you are driving your child/children to school and picking them up, take them to south. Very GOOD SCHOOL!!! Do it for your kids, you will not regret it!!!!

My child has attended the school by choice since 1st grade. He is A/B honor roll, BETA club and a athlete. There is not a school in this county that does not have problems but I am VERY satisfied with BES. If your child is an athlete be prepared to either pay money or help raise money. Academically, be prepared to help them study or get them a tutor. BES has a bad wrap - why - due to the first year the school evolved which was due to re-zoning based upon the County, lack of parent involvement (which is still an issue)and unruly children, a teacher can only do so much. BES still gets a bad wrap because of it - BES does not host the "rich" in the county, but the majority of teachers are great and really care about the children and their futures - my child is zoned for another school and we choose to attend BES. There has also been a turnover in principals which also targets the school. If I thought my child was not getting what was needed, we would go to another school. The teachers and students at BES have HEARTS that no school in the county can touch - they have had to work for it based upon judgment, paradigms and criticism from the whole county. This post will probably create a lot of crap - but I am honestly answering your question.

I am really glad that you like it there. My child was A/B honor roll, beta club, and on the basketball team for years. I do agree there is still a few good teachers out there. The fact is when you call the school board and they know that there is a problem and its not being fixed something is wrong. They also told me that if your child plays any kind of sport that there is teachers that wave the grades and that teachers are waving grades to keep parents off there back. I want a teacher that can stand up to a parent and a coach that is not afraid to kick a player off the team for bad grades. As far as principals go that school went down hill when Mr. Hassler left.My child started there in k-grade and is now a junior in high school I've been there. I still have family that works there. Sorry but better you then me. BEST OF LUCK!!!!!

What teachers to you say are waving grades to keep parents off their back, and which coaches are expecting it?

Teachers have not "waved" any grades for my child. I know that he is making the grades he is making because I see and know the homework that is being done as well as progress reports that are sent home. The coaches expect the kids to make the grades and will not play if the grades are not there. I have seen many kids removed from the team until their grades are an acceptable level, so I don't understand your comment - I don't wish me luck, I wish my child luck to continue to make good grades, think positive, be a good leader, do what is right and be held accountable not only at school but at home.
