Melanie Stoner is sueing for money, because of coach vaugh paddling her son, because he was on the no paddle list.Coach has lost his job but I guess its a way to get some free money.I am happy to say her son survived a bad 4 wheeler accident 3 years ago,but he is ok now..Lucky to be alive.I do not know the injury details from that wreck to say the boy cannot be paddled if he was actng up..

it doesn't matter if he was in a wreck or not, what matters is that he was on the no paddle list and the coach did what he wanted to do and paddled him. Bad on the teacher not her.

suing, and even winning the lawsuit, doesn't necessarily mean she will get the money. the money has to be there to be able to pay it out. if she wins, there's a big chance she won't see any of the money. people win lawsuits and never see a penny all the time.

The coach should have followed the rules just like the kids are suppose to. He has always done as he please and treated kids like crap. If he didnt like their parents then he would make it hard on the kid. Not right. HE deserves to lose his job and the school deserves to be sued. Honestly there proable should be alot more law suits and maybe some of these happy go lucky principles and teachers would act right.

I agree with MYGOSH. That is why my daughter is on the no paddle list, because I know how teachers are around here. If they on't like you they take it out on our kid. Or if the kid did wrong one day the teacher holds that against the kid forthe entire school year after year. I have seen it first hand a teacher not like a kid and when she paddled them she got her aggression out on their butt, not right. I'll take care of the punishment myself thank you.

Also its not right that techers label kids. If they are slow at learning or been in trouble some teachers talk about that kid through out their whole school years and look down on them, Just not right. If its a kid with family with money they turn their head when that child does wrong and holds them to a higher standard. It happens iv seen it.

And let's remember. Mr. Davis isn't the only one at fault. She talked to Ms. Perry who did nothing. She then went to Ms. VanWinkle who did nothing. At some point the responsible thing would have been for someone to do something.

I can completely understand how a parent would be furious and ready to take some sort of action in an event such as this. It isn't a matter of whether or not the child (as someone else mentioned) "survived" and is "FINE" or not. It's a matter of this school, particularly this teacher, completely disregarding a signed and dated document that clearly stated her child was NOT to receive corporal punishment at school. I don't blame her for suing, infact, I hope she wins and it is likely she will. The reason I say that is because although there are some wonderful teachers in Cumberland County, there are also those that let their authority go to their head and could use a little eye opener so that something like this doesn't happen again. If it were me personally, I probably wouldn't sue anyone but I would definetely rattle some cages, but that's just me. As for people smarting off about it and throwing around the whole "why put our poverty county through this" crap....For one, it's awful easy to judge her harshly when it's not YOUR child and not YOUR wishes that were completely ignored. For two, how the hell is it her fault our town is mostly dirt poor? If you want to bitch about the money aspect of it, bitch at the local "good ol boys" for the countless amounts of money this town flushes down the sh!itter every year.

Ive heard a little of the facts about what your talking about ( I think ) and I heard those parents even have tapes of school officials admitting they didnt even know their own policies or certain Federal requirements!!!! I hope the BOE has good insurance cause they'll have to pay for this one too,and from the facts I've heard the plaintiffs will win easily!!!

This is why the crime rate is going through the roof. Kids who need punished and corrected cant be cause their parents think their kids are to good for punishment. Kids who get away with small things now are the ones who get away with murder later on in life. They are the ones who are taught no self discipline or respect for others. That's why the society is going down hill. Punish and correct kids where it is due and stop let this world go sour
