I’m going to title this post….”Self Congratulatory Things Christians Say.”

They do this through the use of various “Biblical” words that I personally refuse to say or use.
Below is a list of some of the most OFFENSIVE words!

“Forgiveness.”
What exactly is forgiveness?
Christian’s use the word in a self congratulatory way, whereby they pat themselves on the back for being such “god like” little creatures who have done such a holy thing for all to admire.
This is what I mean by “self congratulatory”.

I prefer the word “overlook” for the simple reason that my ability to give someone a second chance has nothing to do with a non-existent god nor do I expect a “blessing” as a result of having done so.

“Blessing.”
Christian’s substitute dumb luck as being a self congratulatory “blessing.”
Once again, if their luck is good they turn their good fortune into a self congratulatory blessing in order to let the world know that they are better than you because their luck was god rewarding them for their “faith” and being oh so very special to him.
Another “self congratulatory” Christian word “Miracle” if often used in conjunction with “Blessing”.
You have to laugh at the irony of a Christian soldier fighting a religious war that gets blown up by a land mine, losses both legs and almost dies, but I’ll be damned if its not a “Miracle” that he survives.

Oh yes…”congratulations” on having your life ruined.
What a “blessing”!
With “blessings like that who needs god?

I prefer the word “luck” for the simple reason that bad things happen to good people.

“Faith.”
Christian’s substitute “trust” with the word “faith”.
Once again its all about congratulating themselves in a convincing manner that allows them to “trust” in things that can’t possibly be true by any logical or rational measure.
Believing in the ridiculous all of a sudden takes on a whole new meaning when its just the “special crowd”…the “blessed crowd”….the “I have special powers and a relationship with God you don’t have crowd”…..who self congratulate themselves through the use of this oh so special word….”faith.”

I prefer the word “trust” because I know people are crooked and that any trust of mine is going to get violated at some point, and when it does, it won’t be some unseen god’s fault.
I’m not looking to be “congratulated” for trusting….its merely an issue that we all deal with here in the real world.

I read an article the other day on the lastest advances in artificial intelligence.

I read where some forums are actually using malicious software to generate responses.

Yep...they have that capacity now...and the very first thing I thought of was what I'll refer to as "The Pulaski Program".

It does seem robotic and un-human, doesn't it?
That's probably because its not.

Seriously folks...I no longer believe its a person after reading that article.

What's ugly about me?

I reach pretty much the same conclusions for socially acceptable behavior as the very best God fearing people, however, I do it in a very different and far healthier way.

Hay Florida,

Whatz up?

I am not going to reply to what you have posted, why you may ask well to be perfectly honest with you I didn't take the time to read it. I didn't read it because it started out with a thought way different then my own. That being said, I am sure that I can not change your mind nor can you change mine.

Sooo how are things with you? I have been busy with other things "LIFE" and have not taken the time to check out topix for a week or so.

With a name like "realist" I'm surprised my thoughts were "different."

Perhaps I'm even MORE of a "realist" than you?

Unless you were raised in a Jehovah Witness cult like I was then you should probably refrain from being judgemental.

If God is so smart then he should understand why I feel the way I do.

If he doesn't understand me, then you know what?...I don't FN care!

Florydyan, We both have our differences. I believe in God, to be sure, while You don't care about him. That doesn't mean We haven't agreed on other aspects. We both believe these people and this town is a pile of crap, and that's putting it mildly. You have a way of making these people angry, so you're definately ok in my book. However I just wanted to ask, didn't you post before that You were agnostoic? not an Atheist? I thought you said you don't disreguard the possibility of a higher power, yet you certainly don't go out of your way to worship it like organized religion does? or did you change your mind altgoether and just go Atheist? It's just small curiosity. I don't really care either way.

Thank you...and yeah, I'll try to answer you as best as I can.
In all seriousness, I have referred to Bill Maher on numerous occasions in order to make a long story short, but apparently not all that many people in Crossville know who he is.
He has several HBO specials and a documentary called "Religulous" that does an excellent job of explaining how I feel and believe.

Maybe you should watch them?

No...I don't worship Bill Maher, its just that he does a good job of explaining my position.

Is there a God?
Even Bill Maher will tell you he wishes there is.
I loved his "Religulous" explanation where he likened God to "an agent" who was working for him and his best interests.

Don't we all kind of hope that?
But you know what...when you do believe like that and things go wrong, it creates RESENTMENT....

Oh boy do I ever know that feeling!
"Deny your maker"...("Alice In Chains")

I find the planet earth and its ecology to be so amazing that's its hard to not believe in a supreme being being involved, but yet on the other hand what landlord lets a nice home go into such a state of dis-repair?

"Atheist?"..."A gnostic?"...If I believe in God then I'm mad at him...if I don't believe its because I don't see justice or his involvement in seeing it take place.

Rather than torment my mind with a constant barage of questions that can't possibly be answered, I choose to INSULT Christianity due to the sheep who seem incapable of asking the same questions that I do.

I'm sorry "Elite"...I guess I don't really have an answer for you unless you consider what I said here as being an answer.

Yeah I've heard of Bill Maher. I guess really the best way to interpret your answer is, that You don't care either way if there is or isn't a God. Bill Maher is an agnostic too, and He's said something along the lines that there could be a supreme being, yet he doesn't invest his time in caring. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I believe in God, and I do pray every now and then, yet I just keep it yo myself and try to go on about my business, live my life, etc. That's why You don't see me get invovled in a lot of these debates. I like that you make some of these people angry, even some of the so called Christians. Because despite religion or lackof, these are some of the most pathetic people I've ever seen in my life. The lifestyles They lie, They should be ashamed of themselves, yet They're not. Racism, druggies, etc.

I was adopted...
Some years back I sent away to the state of Ohio for my "original" birth certificate.
I found that my birth name was "Weiss".
Hmmm???...what ethnicity is "Weiss"?
I did some internet searching on the subject, and as I examined my life the pieces began to fall into place.
I don't go to church.
I was married to a black woman.
I live in south Florida.
I wish I could be a stand up comedian.
DAMN!!!!...I might be Jew???
How do you like that?

Freebird.

I am saying this in all sincerity. Do you not realize that when you start this type of rant that you are as bad as the religious ranting? Why must you think you have to wear your religion or lack of on your sleeve?

I never got it back when I was like 5. Was I a Damian kid? Nope just never got it. I know several people like me and we don't rant and rave over it. I really feel bad for you that you were force fed something and beat up for protesting your "not getting it". But, you don't really need to just come on a bible belt forum to dis thier beliefs.

I appreciated my parents doing their duty to bring us up with the church. I had good times there. I got my front tooth killed in the basement with the lights out with the preacher kids. It was fun times. Yes it was social. I think that is the reason my parents chose the church was for the young people they could relate to. They did thier job and let us decide. You didn't get the same option. It it is sad that it has left you so bitter.

A really really smart man told me several years ago, that most people believe because they are afaid to not belive.

And Speaking of Weiss, there's a guy similarly named Bill Wiese who claims to have been to hell for 23 minutes. I've read a few chapters, and I can't say I believe te guy or not. Could b e telling the truth about his experience? Maybe. Could it be a load of crap? maybe. I fund a few chapters to be quite intriguing. He is specific about sme points, and even goes on to offer more meanings, such as Do not steal, and Don't lie. When you steal even a piece of gum, it's still stealing, nonetheless. It doesn't matter what the value is. When you tell a little white lie, it's still a lie nonetheless, and doesn't matter how big it is or not. Stealing is still stealing, and lying is still lying. yet people do those all the time. I'm not being preachy, lol. yet here's the book.
