Stay away from both places, nothing but a meat market if you know what I mean.Cause you nothing but time, trouble and money.

Depends on how much of a weight lifter you are. Pit is known for meat heads. Peak for fitness

Not to pick sides, I personally wonder about the cars I see at either place on a Friday or Saturday night. Seems some might be more eager to look at themselves in a mirror during weekend "primetime" than look at attractive members of the opposite sex somewhere else in town a little more focused on conversational interaction. Just an observation.

Peak is nicer gym, nicer ppl workout there and all round good environment. I know the owner does not allow screamer cursing, or throwing weights. A song come on over the stereo once there and he ran across the gym to change it cause it was filled with cursing. Could tell he cared about who worked out there and respected them.

I've been to peak a few times. Its kind of small, but all in all its a nice place to work out at. I checked the pit out one day and they have a lot more equipment, a sweat room, bball and racket ball court. The pit cost more than peak I think. Just go to each gym and ask the owners questions. Trust me, they will answer and give a basic tour of the gym.

The people that run Peak seem nice & helpful. I haven't used the weight equipment, just the treadmills, steppers, etc....they are adequate, but the place is a DUMP....maybe it is just owned by males or persons that don't take the time to notice or care, but everytime I go there, I look at the ceilings and it is so dark you can barely see to read a magazine while you are on a treadmill. But, at least it is affordable and I am working out. Just don't go there expecting the Ritz, cause it's not. Since I have been going there for about the last 3 weeks, there has NOT once been any papertowels in the ladies locker room. I have wanted to report it to whoever is supposed to be manning the front desk, but there is generally not anyone there and I don't know which one of the people working out actually works there..It would be nice if they wore some sort of identification or t-shirt that said PEAK on it so you would know who you needed to talk to about any concerns or questions.

I'm a little confused by your posting. If you are insinuating that the Pit is a meat market apparently you've never been in there. The people there just seems like a nice mix of regular folks. Young, older, even "old" - all trying to have a nice time while they try to get or stay healthy. Nobody seems snobby or stuck up or into looking at themselves. People are friendly and speak with each other but really seem more interested in getting some exercise. This place is probably the least pretentious gym I've been in - in TN, FLA or the Denver area. Can't say anything about Peak as I have never been in there.

the pit has 24 hr electronic key access. therefore many people take advantage of the gym on weekends and late nights. looks like you might need to get off the internet and visit either gym. honestly I'm more concerned about someone with 2000 posts on a dumb forum than i am with people working out on a weekend. get a life.

Amused is just trying to be funny. Get a sense of humor or just ignore it. The mirror thing is funny. The times I've been I've seen people stop and look at themselves more than they lift weights. Its funny.

When I went to Peak there was a large hole in the ceiling, and there wasn't a lot of cardio equipment. Pit doesn't have a large selection of cardio equipment either but has by far more resistance equipment. There is also a sauna and heat room.
At any gym people are going to look in mirrors and at other people, that is a normality of life. I just ignore the ignorant, mindless people that this town seems to breed. All in all I prefer Pit. It is cheaper than Peak as well.

I love the pit it is a really nice clean and friendly place to work out anyone in there would help you if you need help without asking... plus they own the building that they are in and the peak just rents there building so if the owner decides they don't want emm there they are outta buisness...
