Hi,

Could anyone be kind enough to give me a list with phone numbers if known of any churches in the Sparta area that can help with utilities payments? Am on a fixed income and had a water leak. Got the leak stopped but my water bill is $150 dollars. St Alphonsus will pay $50 if I get the other $100 paid within 7 days. I got help with my light bill with bread of life and united Methodist there in Crossville and they only help 1 time per year. Was not expecting this water leak but it happened and now got a high bill. Help center in Sparta cant help due to low funds I am told Mrs. Mullins said to me so any other places in Sparta please let me know? if need verification for water bill the account number is 0002-01720-001 and its from pleasant hill water. so if you know of any churches please let me know thanks.

If it was a true leak and you fixed the leak the water company will adjust your bill, just ask them.

st alphonsus gives u a list, you have to go secure the rest of the funds, that means working for it. one church requires you attend a service before u get any money.

It looks like to me if you can't afford your utility bills then you need to get rid of your internet or cell phone whichever you are using to post with. It absolutely drives me crazy people asking for help from churches and the community when they need to sit down and make a budget and cut out some of the things that they could live without. Like your beer and cigarettes. Cook your meals at home instead of eating out. And I agree with "hhaha", the water company will adjust your bill 1 time a year if you have a leak.

The churches in different counties keep lists they share with each other to prevent the same people from making the rounds at church to pay their utilities.

It is just not right to me for someone to ask for a list of churches that will help. If someone doesn't attend a church regularly why would someone expect help from a church? If someone does attend a church regularly then perhaps they could speak with thier preacher/pastor/rabbi/priest.

The water company will not adjust for a leak. Trust me! They redid our road and in the process somehow a leak sprung in the pipes under out front yard. TDOT or the water company showed no sympathy because it was on our property. Not only did we have to pay a large water bill, but you can only imagine what the plumber charged to dig up the front yard and replace the pipes. We ended up using our vacation savings to fix everything, but still don't act like the water company will help because unless you can absolutely prove it's their fault they are not going to take a dime off.

Crab orchard water district will reduce your bill for a leak.

WCUD (Pleasant Hill) WILL adjust your bill once per year if you have a leak. I know because that's where we get our water from and we had a leak last month and they adjusted it down to an average of our normal water bill. You have to go talk to the girls in the office where you pay your bill. It just covers the extra caused by the leak though. You are still expected to pay the average of what your bill usually runs.

If you could have proven that the leak was within 50 feet of your road, then you should not have had to pay.

What did the church YOU belong to say? How did the other members of YOUR church help you out? Oh, let me guess. You have not seen the inside of a church in years, or better yet, can even identify one and now you ask for their help. I'm the first to help those who need it but hypocrites like you make me puke.
