I started this thread because of the results from another.

If you believe, or don't believe, please state. Please give a reason other than yes or no.

This should be a debatable topic. Not one that people should bash. Regardless of belief. Keep in mind that some people are educated in all religions, some not.

It should also be apparent that commenting here will not change another opinion on what they believe.

Therefore, I ask..... Do you believe in god?

a better question would be, do you believe king James of england was god,,do you believe that copy write protected book called the king James bible is the true bible..if so england thanks you for the money,go buy another copy..before you decide what you believe first do some serious research on the book you are reading and where it came from..a good place to start would be lost books of the bible..maybe a king James edition printed before 1875 when it was changed,,old king James bibles still had the pre-face that explained the book, written by the men who wrote the book for king james..they never intended to replace the bible,or claimed that god inspired them to write the book it was wrote for the church of england..like Thomas Jefferson wrote the Jefferson bible which was to replace the king James bible in america..research the bible and its history..then decide what to believe..the bible contains over 500 books..the king james edition has changed several times..

Well stated!

This is probably the FIRST logical argument about religion I have ever seen in the Crossville forums. Especially the part about doing research. NEVER blindly accept something you are told to believe without evidence. There is nothing wrong with doubt. Doubt fuels research. Research creates knowledge. Knowledge provides enlightenment. Enlightenment is what revealed the fallicies of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. What else could it disprove?

when you research the old text you learn where modern religion came from..what all ways gets me is preachers and the book of revelations in the king James bible..it don't even belong there,it is one of the books of revelations, the one by john, preachers forget there is also one by moses and Thomas why did they include the one by john..like the book of Adam and eve, its not in the king James bible but its older than books that are..king James bible points to the world being flat..thats bull, the bible tells you the world is round and rotates around the sun..sir Issac newton was a bible schooler, and today people believe he discovered things, that he only read about in the bible..the king james bible, is the best selling copy writed book in history..the queen of england appreciates your purchase..of course the pilgrams came to america so they would not have to use it..

when some one says i believe in the king James version i ask which one..how many books are in it..66 its the new king James, younger than grand paw,,81 books its pre 1875..with pre-face its older than 1800,,how many words are in it..that will tell if its oxford press ,,or it could be one of several other version,,does it say holy bible,if so its pretty new last few years, because it used to be illegal..it had to be called king James version of the holy Scriptures,,belive me if you only read king james you are missing most of the bible, and with out the whole story, its easy to not understand what the book is talking about..

Personally, I believe in God, not god...but that's just me. Why do I believe? Mostly because I was brought up to. I haven't witnessed any miracles, I haven't seen rocks turn into bread, or water into blood. However, I have faith that God exists. I can't prove it, but on the same token, that's the very same reason why I don't tell someone who doesn't believe that they're wrong. I can't prove existance of God any more than they can disprove it.

that means your belief is agnostic..thats my belief..research the lost books of the bible,,you will learn where the old beliefs of many gods come from..you will learn every thing you been taught in church is not in line with any bible..you will see how it all came to be..read the book of Adam and eve..read all the books of Revelations not just the one found in king James bible..as you read the books you will see things in a different light..some of the books are thousands of years older then the books you have read..and many are now available on line in English..you could never read them all,but you can read enough to understand what the king James bible is all about, and how its wrong so many times and why its wrong..and who ordered it changed..you can read the letters wrote from one ruler to another in the Romain empire about Jesus and his death.its nothing like you was taught in church..but both early scriptures and romain leters back it up..

Finally. A christian I agree with.

You are free to believe whatever you want as long as you do not infringe on my NON-belief or try to turn your religious views into legislation.

If more people thought like you, this would be a better place to live.

At the end of the day, no one can prove god does exist or doesn't. Once I see proof from either side, I will only then make a decision. That is why I am agnostic. Otherwise all other arguments are moot and have no real relevance.

True but let me add one thing. The inability to disprove something does not automatically make it something even slightly credible. The burden of proof lies with the one proposing the idea, not the one who disbelieves. You can't disprove the Loch Ness Monster or a plate of buffalo wings on the surface of Mars, either, but statistically they are not even worth considering.
