Crossville Reservoir & The ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERING: I understand there is a property The USACE has looked at and found acceptable to build a reservoir in Pleasant Hill that could sustain Crossville and the surrounding communities for the next 50 years. Why are the leaders not jumping all over this potential water supply if this is true. The Holiday lake reservoir could maybe be raised 3-5 feet higher which sounds very little to me.

This post absolutely proves how out of touch and uninformed you are. The city had been waiting to do the dam repairs at the same time they would raise the height of the dam to INCREASE the size of the reservoir but because the Army Corps of engineers dropped the ball on their help with planning and environmental impact due to all the financial disasters and the war in the middle east. So then the state, that had agreed to wait for a while, said they couldn't wait anymore and the city did the project so the dam is ready for the increase height in the future. Sad that you are SOOOOO ill informed.
The debt has increase a bit, but most of that debt was already on the books and the city is working to lower the COST of the debt and lock in low rates to keep the cost from skyrocketing. I guess you think that is a bad thing? You probably would. The water and sewer lines do not pay for themselves "rather quickly" as you claim.
And nope, I'm not an elected official, I'm simply someone who follows the news.
So did the State tell the City that repairs HAD to be made or not? Simple answer is yes. The State forced the City to repair the dam. Again, spin it however you want, but that is a fact.
So why are they working to lower the cost of debt? Why not just lower the debt itself instead of increasing it by purchasing old bank buildings that aren't needed? City debt is skyrocketing as it is. Getting a refinance at a cheaper rate does not mean you have more to spend. This is something the current people in office seem not to understand.
Boyd Wyatt and his cronies have failed this city and it's time for someone who will actually do something for the City to step in and fix the problems. I will vote for Pete. It's time to give someone else a chance. Boyd has had enough time and has only made things worse.

THE MORE I DIG INTO THE COST TO RUN A SMALL CITY LIKE CROSSVILLE THE MORE QUESTIONS I HAVE: Crossville Meadow Park Dam: The initial REPAIR contract price for the work on the dam was almost $4,483,000. And if this isn't enough to make milk go sour; check this out on the same link--- Councilman Boyd Wyatt pointed out that the Tansi raw water project was also part of the Meadow Park Dam improvement plan and the two projects together cost about $9 million. We really need a watch dog in this town. http://crossville-chronicle.com/local/x471600...

ATTENTION BOYD WYATT! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that there is something very wrong here. With these prices it sounds like we are living in New York City. What is going on here! My ma didn't raise a fool. Find me a large piece of land with a big hole and give me one good man on a bulldozer and I'll build ya a dam.

Is Bruce Wyatt related to Boyd Wyatt?

Here is a great start for us to build a dam for the City: First; Lets get away from the costly concrete type. Second; Lets not buy land that is to close to the city. Third; Lets not buy land owned by our friends. This may keep the costs down and we will have plenty of water for the next 50 years, perhaps even longer. How much did the REPAIRS COST AGAIN? Now since many of us in Crossville only get minimal wage I really can't figure out how many hours it would take us average people to pay for this dam REPAIR. Would anyone out there that is good with math please figure out how long it would take us to pay back 13.48 million for our water?

Are we all beginning to see a little clearer here. I'm sorry but we really need to "Quite Wyatt" Fire him on election day because I can't effort him, you probably can't effort him and let's send him back to his $1.2 million mansion in Florida.

You should check with the various government agenices that allow (and much more often DON'T allow the construction of dams and lakes. Yes, the city looked at property near P. Hill but the current situation showed that it would an extremely long drawn out process and VERY VERY expensive to build a lake there. For someone who claims they want to keep costs down you are a complete obliviot! Do a little research and you'll see that you can't build any lakes with a bulldozer in these modern times.

Wow! A total obliviot!

I would hate to se what increasing debt a lot would be. A bit....that is an understatement. Didn't they just borrow like 17 million more dollars a month or so ago? Yes I know some of that was refi but a lot was covering all the crap the council has wasted money on. Maybe our sewer line debt wouldn't be as large if we took care of the city first and Cumberland cove, Tansi, every church outside of city limits and Boyd's son later.

It wouldn't be because I understand the guy that owns the property is willing to sell the property to the city with only 20% down and the rest paid out over 10 years! I don't know him personally but I know a close friend of his. The property is about 300 acres with a bluff that could hold 20 times the water the current reservoirs' holds.

Shortly the real deal about the city government should be coming out. I believe shortly Boyd Wyatt will pull out of the race and call it quits. I also believe there is a good chance Perry will follow and also be pulling out of the race. This is only a prediction.

MONEY FOR EVERYTHING ELSE BUT THE BLUE COLLAR CITY WORKERS!
The council loves to spend money on everything except the backbone of the city. If you have to make cuts start with the Chamber of Commerce which produces what!

For the second year in a row, city employees will get no salary increases based on the council members' decision. The city had been considering a one time bonus payment of $50 per year of service similar to what the state of Tennessee approved for their employees. Every employee would receive at least $150. Such a one time bonus would not add to future budgets as a salary increase does.

As reported in the Crossville Chronicle on October 9, 2008

Another area of interest for Wyatt is the growth and upgrades made at the Crossville Airport. These kinds of improvements make Crossville more accessible to industry officials who visit the city. "We are recognized state wide for having one of the best non-metropolitan airports in the south," Wyatt said. "And it is of great interest to me to continue to see improvements there."

Here clearly he makes a huge blunder sinking huge resources into the airport just as the recession hits all of us. We did not need to spend this huge amount of money on an airport right as the recession takes root. It was a bad decision and Boyd you did it. We need a totally new government and have to vote them out. CRONYISM, BAD JUDGEMENT, OLD IDEAS THAT DON'T WORK ANYMORE - I can't take a chance with him any longer and probably you can't either. I'm holding onto my home on a shoe string. Maybe you are to. NEW IDEAS NOW! VOTE FOR COMMON SENSE NOW, VOTE FOR EXPERIENCE If Boyd is a afraid to debate Pete Souza do you think Boyd will run the city any better in the future.
"QUITE Wyatt NOW". We just can't afford another big bill in the mail!

The bond issue was 14 million and all but 2 million was refinancing. Sad how badly informed a lot of voters appear to be that post here.
