Thank you so much for writing to us. Yes, this time is hard...this month especially....BUT, thoughts and prayers of folks that we do not know...folks who just want to say nice words like you...do help us a lot.

God has already started the healing process...for without HIM, this could have killed us all. No one can understand the pain that this has caused...BUT we know that GOD is our refuge and that HE will help us through the trial. We want Kathy remembered as a loving mother and a wonderful sister and daughter. We know that God will see to it that Dale is put away and punished for what he did to her.

It amazes me at times, the thoughtfullness of Gods family....I know that is what we are supposed to do...but it does not always happen.

Thanks so much for your kind words of encouragement. I am thankfull that He does have us in His hands and that He will not let us faint...but will strengthen us to go through this trial in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for reminding me....not to be weary and just walk in Him.

THE VERDICT..........GUILTY OF 1st DEGREE MURDER! NO MERCY!
The judge said that Dale Oneil showed no mercy to Kathleen or to her family. The act that he did was unlawful and unhumane. He said that no one should have to die that Ms. Atkins did....and to just dump her body over a hill..was horrible. HE said "you showed no mercy to Ms. Atkins or to her family...and this court shows no mercy to you.....

He told him that after he spent 17years in prison, he killed .....he said it is proven what you will do if we were to ever let you out....he told him that he would spend the rest of his natural life in prison and that he would NEVER be allowed out to hurt anyone else...ever!

i didnt find out about kathys death until recently because she and her family moved back to west virginia years ago and noone told me.i was kathys best friend in charlotte nc for many years i worked with her husband bart. kathy and i were very close. she babysat my son austin when he as a baby, now 20 yrs old. kathy was a beautiful person, strong in mind and spirit, and i know in my heart that she fought, because that was the kind of woman she was. i dont think anything has ever just hurt me like this, i have pictures of her that i will treasure forever as the fondest memories of my best friend. now i will never be able to tell her how much i really loved her and missed her and her family when they moved back to w va. i am so sorry that i didnt know and that i couldnt be there for the family, i wish that i was. if there was anything i could do to stop what happened to her, i would in a heartbeat. kathy loved her huband , children, family and friends. she was a kind, trusting person which led to her demise. i love you kathy and will forever hold you in my heart as my best friend. god bless and protect you always my love and i will see you again one day.god bless the family who went through all the hardships , pain and agony of kathys death. i will be thinking of you and keep you in my thoughts and prayers. god bless her chilren, buster bj and blake who kathy would have gladly died for, not at the hands of a crazed killer like mr oneil.he will be taken care of at judgement when he answers to the lord as to his reasons for torturing and killing a beautiful mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend! i pray daily that the lord does not take his answer lightly and punishes him the same way kathy was punished because she trusted him. she didnt deserve to die but your justice kathy is still yet to come until then rest in peace sweetheart and know that i love you girl! nothing will ever be right again because kathy is gone. i love you kathy, god bless and protect you always and forever. ill see you one day soon in that glory land where you will never be hurt again.
