There are 2 comments on the Albany Times Union story from Jun 30, 2013, titled Life between locks in a flood. In it, Albany Times Union reports that:

John Lewis, who lives in Alaska half the year and the other half on his boat, moves his boat to a shadier spot near the Lock 2 park on Friday, June 28, 2013 in Waterford, N.Y. Lewis is one of many boaters who became temporarily stranded in Waterford after heavy rains caused the canal to close for navigation from Waterford to New London.
