All of my gay friends have been Catholic. Of all my acquaintances that are gay, I only know of two non-catholics. This is my experience.
Catholicism is a belief and not a genetic disposition, or in other words it behavioral and not inheritable. Catholicism covers many ethnic regions, not entirely related genetically, for instance Italian, Spanish, Irish, etc.
