Racing is boring

The homeowners bought homes near a racetrack.
Am I supposed to feel bad for them?

I have lived here 21 years. I did not hear this noise for the first 10 years, so to say I bought here knowing that is not valid.

The noise is not as loud as it used to be. Also, they do not race as late as they used to. Many years ago, it went past midnight, and they brought in the professional cars which are more powerful and louder. Now it is just local cars. Granted they are still noisy, but that track has been there well over 40 years, and the noise has always been there.

I have lived in the Piney Orchard community for about a year now and noticed the noise right away. The constant sound is annoying and ever present throughout the community. It disrupts the quiet of the nature preserve here and can even be heard when me and my husband golf at Walden Country Club a few miles away. If it were only occasional noise - it wouldn't be so terrible. However, it is there every Friday / Saturday. My dog barks constantly at the sounds. I think the community should have the right to have peace and quiet within the homes that we purchased here. The racetrack may have been here first but how many thousands of residents are disturbed by the loud noise??? It can be heard all over Odenton / Crofton and thousands shouldn't have to suffer at the amusement of a few. Isn't that what democracy is about?

i have lived in the area for 30 years and never once bothered me and i lived right accross the street from it.it is a great place for my husband and daughter to bond. its the reason we moved back so they could have a hobby that they can do together. they have a wonderful relationship because of the track. it gives them something in common.

Not sure your post even deserves a response since you couldn't manage to get Rachael's name right and then proceeded to slander her with such a lovely and creative new title - well done!
I live pretty far East at the corner of HWY424/450 and I'm unable to sleep when the raceway is having larger evening events and can clearly hear the racing inside my home even when it's just the weekly racing. I live next to a wooded lot and you would think we'd be waking up to birds chirping on Sunday mornings - nope. We get to wake up to exhaust noise from the raceway.
We researched this area extensively with special attention to things like air traffic noise, etc. I guess it wasn't race season when we bought our home because I never heard any noise from the raceway and never would have guessed the noise would travel so far even if I had known the raceway was active.
To me, people wanting a peaceful community that they can come home to after a stressful day at the office sounds like a legitimate desire.
People who choose a hobby that pollutes the environment in so many ways, wastes so much income (not sending the kids to college, no doubt), and has no real purpose other than stroking the ego, really doesn't seem to have much merit.
As for "the raceway was here first", well actually the Native Americans were here first and I can guarantee you there was a lot of peace and quiet to go around. Doug, lick my scrotum!

I've lived here for almost 34 years and the track has never bothered me.. As strange as this may sound I always associated it with the sounds of summer...which I love. Sort of like my grandfather clock..after a while you don't here the chimes. That track was here before any of us... anyone who complains ..too bad, they should have done their homework before buying in the area.

I've lived here for over 6 years and the noise hasn't been bothersome until now. It's gotten louder and lasts longer. It supposed to stop after 10pm but doesn't. Also with all the idiot comments here saying "just move", sorry that's not reasonable given the housing market. Also this extremely large neighborhood has young children and infants. It affects them more than it does adults. Also "Steve Edmonds" your comments are ignorant and downright foolish. Insulting people only makes your opinion worthless in the eyes of everyone reading these forums. Please go crawl back under the rock you came from...
