Thinking about going into business in Crofton opening a bar and grill with pool tables live bands maybe even a drive thru window. i have read in 2000 only 800 people in town has the population grown since then. anyone know the avg price per beer in bars there now? and how do you feel about a bar opening in town?

I think there is only one bar there. It is run by the Croftown mafia and the Klan, who keep all the other bars closed up. That is why the Hoptown cops catch so many drunk drivers going back to Crofton

i am thinking of reopening the bar that was located just south of club paradise traveling south on 41 from there it is on the left hand side was told by owner it was a on site bar with carry out sales and was doing a great business
would be having live bands karaoke pool tournaments and even occasional wet t-shit contest (with prize money if can get enough to enter) was told just closed 3 weeks ago that the owners had problems (with girlfriends with sticky fingers) just looking to iron out some of the rumors and see if this is a good location and if would be a good location to open

I'm not really in favor of a bar there, but I'll tell you that 2-3 people have tried to open a place in the past few years and I've never seen more than 8 cars there at a time (I drive by there alot). Maybe you'll do better, but there is also a chuch like a half mile away- don't know if that affects things or not. They have alot of outdoor services.

why not be in favor if it is ran right and follows the law. and not even open on Sunday to interfere with the church i don't see why it would be a problem. as far as not being cars there i would hope this is not true but i guess it could be

I am from Nortonville and I think a bar there would be good as long as it was well managed.. I think if the prices were good people from all around would come.. There's not many bars around here and I think as long as it was done right it would work! Honestly my understanding is that the previous owner of the bar burned it down for the insurance money. It used to be only a drive thru and most people go to madisonville if they need alcohol.. so a bar might work out good as long as it's nice and not a trashy one!

I wouldn't cause a fuss or anything. I just don't like bars... It has nothing to do with the people or location. Everyone's got to do their own thing, who cares if I agree with it? I wasn't trying to offend...just telling what I know. And the cars...I honestly never saw many cars there. Maybe just because it's so far out...? OH, and it is actually Manningtion instead of Crofton.

no problem i did not take offense to what you said. just trying to get a feel, the owner of the property said he ran it for years and was making good money at it so was wondering why he would sell it so cheep 25k for building land and everything in it. u know the saying if its to good to be true it probably is,

and for burning it down (not you JeckRS) that's what insurance is for and kinda sounded like a threat

I don't know the owner and may make him mad by saying this, but he is misleading you. The bar was open YEARS AGO and did very well...I remember my Dad going through the drive through when I was a kid. But, at that time there were 3-4 bars in the area, because it was the only town around that was wet. But in recent years, there have been a few people (2-3 maybe) who have tried to start one and it hasn't run for a solid year in more than 10 years. The last one that run it was the shortest time...maybe 3 months.
I saw the comment about "burning it down" and it was tacky and was a threat. Obviously that person doesn't realize that terroristic threatening is a crime and that the things you post online, although your name isn't listed...can be traced.
Maybe you could visit the area and talk to locals- they'll tell you about the bar/ area. Oh, and maybe research Mannington. That's actually the town you'll be in.

not a threat at all 41, the place you are talking about burnt bc they ran out of money and had to burn it down to get insurance money. How ever it was not a bar... it was a liquar store only drive through at that. The bar i was refuring burning down was right in the middle of crofton and they ran out of money too bar goes up on flames, they get ins money and that that... however like i said before your not even wanting to put the bar in crofton... so it means nothing to me but b4 you invest in anything i would look around alittle more like the owner of that bar you are looking into lives right by the bar why dont he open it up if it makes so much money because he is so broke that he has to live in a old bar with out even a bath tub..

I wasn't talking about 41 liquors...I was talking about the one south of Club Paradise. I think he's being misled about the business thriving there. THe one that burnt down...that was the B Line, right? I'd never heard the rumor about either of those being used for insurance money...but I don't really get into the rumor mill much. So...the guy that just tried to run the "new" bar- he is the one living next door to it? in the other bar? wonder if they are selling both lots or just the one...?... What did they do, make a home of the other?

I know a few old women from Crofton who would love a new bar to hang out in.They will be there nightly, spending their disability checks. You can count on it.

the bar was leased out and the guy leasing it burned it down to get out of his lease and he also had an insurance policy that paid for anything belonging to him inside of the bar and he is a crack head so he wanted that lil bit of money.. names Brian Deal.. and whoever said outsiders r not welcome needs smacked in the face. how rude. bad people..

Guy that owns the bar and the lot next to it which used to be wildcat liquor is a con artist, felon. Had only owned it since 07 or 08 but will tell everyone otherwise. He opened it as 100 rounds saloon but too cheap and unable to get liquor license. He has since leased it out with option to buy which is a scam in itself since the place doesn't bring in much money in addition to the fact that he will assure you don't succeed in owning it. The leasing to own method proves to be more profitable for him. He will make sure it costs you more money than the lease amount, eventually lessee will give up and he still owns it. He is a felon with a long rap sheet and can not even get a license to run it himself.
If you had 25K in cash, he would definitely be glad to take it and get the bar off his hands.
Oh, the owner has different names such as "the Gen", Jack Stover, etc but his real name is Grant Deforest Painter
Good luck!

mannington is the location you describe and about 10 years ago it was a booming bar town but hopkins county and muhleberg county has since went wet and the small towns like dawson springs madisonville and central city are wet as well so most of the people that used to depend on mannington for booze now has it much closer to thier home and really has no need to frequent such a secluded area for their needs. mannington as a whole has a bad rep for fighting and killings so being able to draw in quality customers would be near impossible.i drive by this bar twice a day and many times at night on weekends maybe 3 cars there during the week and maybe 8 there on the weekends.
