We can all get a little negative on Crockett and the county. I have always said, without criticism we fail to move forward as we are content with what we are.

In all fairness there are a lot of real positives to being here so I felt we should look at some.

I know when my kids come back to town we can send them to a local mechanic. He will change their tires, oil and whatever else we choose to have done and we will pay him on our next trip to town.
Then, only if he has the bill ready.

Not waiting in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Any to add!

Your number 2 (no line at DMV) is my husband's #1. I can also add to that - beautiful blue skies, light traffic, fantastic spring & fall,
great birdwatching.......any more?

BEER.... but I digress..Crockett is a nice place to live if you have a good job or are retired and are comfortable financially. Unfortunately there is little opportunity for young folks here as far as employment and it has always beenthat way from what I hear. That's not unique to Crockett. It's the same situation in any small town. I wouldn't live in Houston for $100,000 a year! Crockett ...ok

Bryan is good. He is by far the most professional here. He was having a hard tome for a while.
I don't think people liked paying his prices.

He can get a little pricey but, you get what you pay for.

I also like the wildflowers we have here, and the foliage...albeit limited.

A few more positives: A place for my family out of the hurricane zone, hummingbirds, millions of stars at night.

A good place is across the street from Consumers L.P. now. The person running it is ASE certified and does the work cheeper than most other shops.

I didn't know they had a place there? Always good to know!

Does anyone know what happended to Johnsons mower and small engine repair? I tried to bring a chain saw and they were closed up tight by the looks of it.

Yes the stars....the milky way is phenomenal on those cool clear nights. I like the owls hooting as well.

Bryan owns the shop. He went through a divorce and it slowed him down. Some people think he is pricey but for the city folks he isn't too bad...in my books.
Sometimes a little high..but accurate on his repairs.

I like to buy my tires from Butch Patton at the exxon across from Brookshire.
Butch is a great guy and his prices are fair. Not to mention he's not a big chain. I like to support smaller businesses whenever possible.

Friendly people.
I am always amazed when I pull over to use a cell phone and folks stop to see if you need help.

Good points, also gas stations run by people other than Indian immigrants. KB Express for one... The Traffic is getting worse, but overall this place is great if you are financially stable. I suppose we just get a little jaded about living here after awhile, go and live in Dallas or Houston for a little bit, you will want to come back.
