Are any of the readers here from Westwood, if so tell us what you think about paying for all that extra security. Do you feel safe with the mutton chop twins locked in a building watching TV? Next time you drive by the gate after dark notice that the security office glows with light from a TV. How much of you maintainance fees goes to providing security? If I lived there I would be very upset>>>

As a Police Officer I can tell you i think there a joke. All they do is call the local Sheriff's Department when there is a problem. Better off having that money go to the Sheriff's Department to help fund Decent Deputies and a Decent Sheriff instead of Dirty Jones.

They are only required to work a miniscule number of hours a week to fulfill their contract. That in itself is a joke. They pick when they want to 'work'.

You are exactly right about the calls to the sheriff's office except they don't call...they tell the people themselves to call....because they are "off duty".

We live in Westwood and love the subdivision very much however; we feel the level of security provided to us for the money we pay is absurd. My husband and I have noticed the TV going and the two officers that we pay never seem to "patrol" until late when they will be entertaining a female by "showing her around". I know that I speak for the majority of the homeowners out here when I say we want a change. They are only operators, relaying any calls to the Sheriff's office and then we have to wait until the Deputy arrives before any action is taken. I call on the Sheriff to relieve these two men of their duty and provide us with the protection that we pay for. Right now it is only a joke, as I said, they do not respond to calls, they only work at the same time as each other as if they are scared to be there alone and will not respond if they are off duty. We have kids that hide in the back and do "only God knows what" because they feel safe from the law. As for us, we will not support a man in office who allows the citizens of Westwood to continue being ripped off with this poor representation of law men!

This is a resident vs POA problem that has to be resolved by forcing them (Property Owners Association officers'/managers) to uphold the portions of your purchase agreement or contract that deal with the associations fees and services. If you can get the others you say your also speaking for to call and flood them (officers/managers) with a demand for some sort of response to it and get them (residents) to literally show up to the next 'meeting', then you may begin to get their attention on this issue.

We have tried but there is an obvious connection between the "Boss Huffman" and his "do what I say twin brother" and the head of the board, which shall remain nameless. The way we figure we can get rid of them is oust the one who hired them by someone who will fire them including Mark.

Well, sounds like good ole-fashioned 'black-mail' at work there. The 'head' or whatever his title is, needs to ousted ASAP, by lawsuit if necessary, if you want ANY sort of results. Obviously his integrity has been compromised by one method or another. Once that was done, his authority was for all intents and purposes neutralized and transferred to whomever benefits from possessing the "compromising data". An example of the old addage "knowledge IS power" in a real-world application!

The solution to all of these problems is very, very, simple. The easiest and fastest way to get rid of the Mutton chop twins, and mark, is to simply get out and vote at election time! Vote Mark out of office and I promise he will go away. Elect a Sheriff that is not appointed by Mark, and the Mutton Chop Twins will go away too. I gaurantee it!! They were appointed like Jones was. Put those two deputy slots on the street at the Sheriff's Dept. And let Westwood hire themselves a security guard. I told you it was simple!! Now get out there and cast your vote and get all of your friends to do the same!!

Does anyone on here EVER have anything good to say about anybody? Yes maybe people do not need to be in the positions that they are in, but goodness, give 'em a rest. You never know if they or their family reads this and people might take stuff pretty personal. People all go through things in life and they learn from them and change, give them a chance.(not meant towards to hurt or start another agruement)

Occasionally, though rarely, a positive comment like when I said Phil(city mgr) did a good job getting the grant monies for Trinity, even though that money could be used for something far more important than sidewalks, at least he got it done.
However, you should keep in mind that if we just 'give 'em a rest' as you put it they would get the VERY false impression that everything they do is okay and that would be even more wrong since most of it isn't okay. As far chances, they have a chance EVERY single day they are in office to correct their mistakes and if their families/friends/cronies can't see it well then that seems to be a more personal problem with themselves, not the public whose 'interests' are suppossed to be paramount over all of their personal ones, including themselves, hence the term "public service". In actuallity it is PERSONAL to ALL of us, since what they do or DON'T do affects us ALL and if these family members can't see or understand that then they need to open their eyes and minds to reality.

These people that are being talked about have been in power too long. It is time for new blood, so we need to hear what is going on, the paper does not seem to print the truth. Another thing, why do we have to keep quite when these people are spending our money to benefit themselves and those close to them. Any one in office or that holds a public service job should be doing a public service for the entire community. Tell me one good thing the Huffman's have done for Westwood, or Mark Evans has done for the county, that the city council has done for the city of Trinity. I as well as the rest of us are tired of what is going on here. We retired to this community, pay more taxes than a lot of people here, spend our retirement money here, so I can scream as loud as I want too. I predict you will start seeing some turn over in the public offices soon. When we do get a new Sheriff, County Judge, District Judge, Commissioner, County Clerk, Police Chief, and city council then I truly believe that things will get a lot better.

That is the point. Let them read (if they can read this) and maybe they will get off their *** and do their jobs the way they are supposed to. It is personal when your actions affects others in a negative way. Further, when someone learns from their mistake and change, it means "They do not repeat the same behaviour". As far as a chance, "How many years have they been there"?. Get a Grip, Time for positive change people.

You are absolutely right. It would be so beneficial to the city if Westwood Shores resident could vote in the city elections, but that's okay, they can vote in the county where it all begins..(I) appreciate your input Westwood Shores resident. Change will come.

Received this email from a friend. Thought the rest of you might enjoy it too since it is somewhat related to this topic. This should be titled "HOW TO GET A HUFFMAN TO RESPOND"

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD.
George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his
wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she
could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go
turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said
"no". Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should
simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available.
George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police
again. "Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were
people stealing things from my shed.
Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them."
Then he hung up.
Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit, and an
ambulance showed up at the Phillips's residence and caught the burglars
red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George:
"I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

(True Story) I LOVE IT - Don't mess with older wiser people!!

You know they would show up just to see the dead bodies.

LMAO @ Gnacake, that was great and these punky, criminal "kids" should remember that experience and quick wit counts for something. You should also post this on the Sheriff Office string in the Groveton forum. Not too sure if they would get the last line, "I thought you said there was nobody available!" though.
