Texas Puppy Mill Bill Now In Senate OPPOSED by Texas Veterinary Medical Association

There are 77 comments on the www.zootoo.com story from May 29, 2009, titled Texas Puppy Mill Bill Now In Senate OPPOSED by Texas Veterinary Medical Association. In it, www.zootoo.com reports that:

Texas House Bill 3180, the bill that will crack down on puppy mills, has passed the Texas House of Representatives and moved to the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. Because it has no current regulations or licensing protocol in place for large-scale commercial dog breeding facilities, Texas has become a haven for puppy mills.

The opposition is doing everything they can to kill this important humane bill. Concerned Texas residents must make sure they don’t succeed.

Call the state senators serving on the Texas Senate Criminal Justice Committee and ask them to support HB 3180 at the bill’s upcoming hearing. Ask your friends and family to call, too. The committee’s number is (512) 463-0345.

HB 3180 isn't perfect & will not eliminate puppy mills, but its a start. It will improve conditions for dogs kept in commercial kennels and prevent Texas from attracting more puppy mills so let your voice be heard and make your opinion count.

No but remember the abortionist that was put out of business. There were over 60,000 souls destroyed by this one person.

Seems counter-intuitive.
But...more sick puppies eventually leads to more vet. bills after they go to their new owners.
More regulation leads to fewer and healthier puppies which = less income for vets.
Hope I'm wrong.
Help me out if 'ya know better.
I love puppies like a 4 year old boy does.
I could easily double tap anyone who would hurt an innocent animal.
Know what you mean. Could beat up the baby killers too.

Never heard this much about babies when it went to the senate. Guess human life is not as precious.

Saving your life only becomes fashionable after you have been convicted of a capital crime.

....if we could have all unborns plead guilty to multiple murders ( through their attorneys ) they would ( de-facto ) join this favored group.

....no more abortion!

Yes, this is crazy but where does the craziness really begin?

U all make me feel better. We do need to show as much respect for life of humans as animals. No Offense to animals I love animals but seems somewhat unbalanced and I don't want them to suffer but when they do the late term abortions those babies are screaming. It hurts them. It seems right is wrong and wrong is right.
No more comment on dogs by me man from crockett.

I just read the article on the House Bill 3180 and called the number provided only to be told that they are not in session and that the next session does not start until 2011. Is this true? and if so can nothing be done legislatively until then?
We should all be outraged and ashamed that puppy mills are allowed to do business anywhere.

Congress may not be in session, but you can still call your local representative and senator at their office. Keep the calls coming.
