That is your opinion that teachers at the High and Middle School that need to go!!! I am a very involved parent and I know first hand there is very qualified teachers on both campus!!! I guess your one of those parents that never make your own child stand accountable. As a parent I know first hand it starts at home which means you can not blame the teachers and staff all the time. You need to go volunteer at the schools and I bet your eyes will be open!!!

I do volunteer alot and my child is a straight A student. My child also has an exceptional home life. Not all the teachers are bad and all are very nice some just don't teach well. I do agree more parents should volunteer.

It makes a difference in a child life when they have a good foundation!!! Your child is being successful because he or she
has a good foundation at home!! Unfortunately that is not the case
for most of the students at TISD... It just seems sometimes parents
are quick to blame someone else besides looking in the mirror finding
the truth..

I know for a fact tha most of the time now the students aren't interested in learning. They want everything handed to them just like their parents want the government to hand everything over to them. Nobody wants to work or earn anything anymore. I hope there are new people elected to the school board that will open their eyes and quit letting the Superintendent run the schools the way he wants. People need to quit blaming the teachers. We will be losing some really good teachers and that is a shame.

I hate hearing this about all the teachers. My children have all had amazing teachers. But in my opinion I feel my child's education is being held back because of the large amount of students who are not scoring good on the tests. It's these students who are holding the teachers back from teaching. The new teachers coming in will have the same problem, will they be fired too?

All my children have passed their Taks tests and now star test, and have never been sent to the office. So it's not my kids who are bringing the district down and getting the teachers fired.

How many teachers from the middle and high school were fired or quit? Is it the same for the other two schools?

I'm saddened by what I'm reading here...It IS true that there are teachers on staff that don't do much to teach (what they are hired to do) and it IS true that schools all over the state are teaching to the standardized testing--not just in Trinity). It IS true that we have dedicated staff that work hard for the betterment of our kids, It IS true that administration doesn't always support our teachers/principals, and sometimes they have to fight just to get whats needed to do their jobs. It IS true that SOME of the teachers that have been reassigned/non-renewed are great people and work hard...but as much as they're liked, they just aren't doing what's needed. It IS true that there are some amazing people that are on the school board, but those people have their own agendas and providing the best education to our children come second. It is true that bad decisions/placements are holding our schools back.

AND...it IS TRUE that we are the ones, and the only ones, as community members and/or parents that will hold them accountable. Don't like what's going on....quit whining and complaining and get folks on the school board that share the same beliefs--FOR OUR SCHOOLS that you do. Put folks in who aren't afraid to make changes...for the better.

I am a parent who has been involved in schools on every level,(both here and where we lived before) and nothing will happen here for the good unless you stand up and make changes...go to school board meetings and address the board. Take your concerns to the PTA--aren't they meant to look out for the interest of your kids??? Speak with other parents. Be proactive instead of insulting and whiny...

Lets get to the truth of it all wer must stop the feds from telling Texas teachers how and what to teach. We need to put the education of our kids in the hands of educators not polititions. US dept of EDU needs to be dismanatled and let teatchers teach

I will say this...why would the Superintendent of TISD go to any kind of extra curricular activity when a parent can pass him a hall or be in the same room with him and he will not speak to you or even nod his head at you??!! How can he be interested in anything but getting his "time in"?

That's just the type of people our school board allows to run our schools . Look at the history of our board. Since L.C Courtney and his hand picked canadates have taken over the schools they have gone straight to hell. Cut the head of the snake and the rest will role. If you want Dave Plymale out or restrained then go out and find some canadates this next school board meeting that have some backbone and will put there foot down. If I am not mistaken our current president Judy Bishop and Mr. L. C Courtney's positions will be up for grabs this next election. There are some great people in this town that could truly make a difference. The talk is being talked and it's getting around. Who will it be that finally steps in and grabs this bull by the horns and gets it straight once and for all!

Trinity schools are NOT bad, in many ways they are quite GOOD.
They recently won district in UIL (thats academic competition)and they have won many contests in Band, Robotics, Choir.(help me out here, what else have they won or placed well in !)
TISD suffers (as do many small rural district) from the curse of "averaging". I would guess that the upper half of our student body is well above the median in test scores, but we have a lot of ESL (English as a second language) students, and a high percentage of free or reduced price lunch students.
These students have big disadvantages when it comes to learning, many dont get much help at home, and they don't test well. This shows up in our large number of "underperforming" kids.
When their scores are "averaged in", it pulls the performance down overall, making the school look bad overall.
For those of us who care, and help our kids at home, and teach them discipline and respect for the school, our studens will succeed, and enjoy the advantages of a small "hometown" school.
And those who care even more, we can help out at the Boys and Girls Club, or volunteer at the schools or at the many churches that have tutoring.
You obviously know nothing. In 2013 band never competed in anything. I know. I was in band then and now. We didn't compete in anything until last year. We had a few individuals who competed on Solo and Ensemble only one person made it to state and that was 2014. Robotics and Computer Sciences are really the only thing that the school wins in UIL. And that's a few select people. Not the whole school. I will have you know I take ALL AP classes and I receive free lunches. Don't judge based on social and financial background. ESL students are not to blame either. Kids are failing because good teachers leave and lazy bad teachers come in. I've had an amazing teacher who once left because of teacher and "education officials" politics. She came back and I got to meet her. She took the passing rate from 29% to 50%. It's not just the students and their will to learn. It's the teachers too. Currently they're two classes I'm taking and learning nothing. Point is stop judging and blaming JUST the students. It's not just our fault. I suggest you talk to students and do more research. From, a Student who actually goes here and knows the activities.
