I was simply telling Gordon that this is Trinity not Crockett. He keeps stating that in Crockett there is not such law.

There is a state leash law and it does not matter whether you live in or out of the city. It is illegal to allow your dog (or cat) to run loose. If it is on your property it can be loose but as soon as it leaves your property it must be on a leash or under your control. Allowing a dog (or cat) to run loose means it is not under your control. If a law officer told someone it was okay to allow it to run loose then they need to educate themselves on the state leash law.
Interesting, I have heard of neighbors calling on dogs before. They say the Sheriffs Dept. is too busy to deal with it.
I realize they are busy and dogs unless they bite are low priority. I guess that is the benefit of lower taxes?

There is a leash law in Trinity County as a neighbor of mine found out a few years back after I shot her dog. The dog had been coming into my yard for days terrorizing anyone that dared leave the safety of the house. I finally got tired of the dogs behavior and the owners unwillingness to heed warnings and control the dog so I shot the damn thing. When it wandered into her yard to die she freaked and called the sheriffs dept. They responded only to end up telling her that if she had cared that much for the dog she would have kept it in her yard. She was also informed of the lease law in the county. She has gotten another dog but this one is kept in it's own yard.

In the case of dogs or other animals being chained without food, water or shelter take steps to get an animal rescue involved. They respond alot quicker that the officers are able to.

katkirby has the right idea, shoot the damn things.when the s.o. responds, tell them that if they are too busy to respond we will have to take matters into our own hands.I have actually has a deputy tell me to shoot them if they come into the yard, and if the owner caused problems they would be dealt with.

Na shootin' em ain't no fun... Get yourself a detonator mine, a shovel, and some kibbles n' bits. Take that there shovel and dig yourself a 5x5 hole in the ground. Sprinkle some kibbles n' Bits in the whole and place that detonator mine down in there. Sit on your front porch with a nice cold Iced tea and when that dog falls down in there push the little red button on that remote.....KABLOOM! No more troubles......

Anyone seen my meds?

I wish they would put me on Meds. It seems everyone is taking them.
I know people that seem really happy when they take meds....Not so happy when they miss their meds.

Surely something...other than the obvious is wrong with me?

Perhaps I can be ADHDD or ADD or addhat.
All this thinking is hurting my brain.

I gotta go find my wifes meds

They have Meds for that!

Of course I was joking as well with my above post.

It does seem to be a day and age where we medicate to normalcy (whatever that is).
1/2 the kids I grew up with would be diagnosed with something today.
It seemed they were the ones that always got in a lot of trouble but eventually came back into line with the rest of us.
All without the use of miracle drugs?
I think it was called discipline?

Our new Sheriff may not be aware of the fact that state law states the Sheriff is responsible for stray animal control. Also the Commissioners Court made one deputy position an Animal Control officer position. Check the back CC minutes.

By the was if you call the Sheriff's Department and they fail to respond and someone gets hurt because of their lack of responce, the Sheriff, his department and the County Commissioners and County Judge could (I say could) be found civilly liable for their failure to respond.

Ok I have had enough. I want to start gathering all these dogs up and putting them in a kennel and send out ransom notes to their owners. I am tired of seeing all these damn dogs loose. I think I seen 8 yesterday! I could be "The Dog Hunter" Just think about it..lmao

Stacy, are you in the city limits? Whenever we have a dog loose on our street I call Ginger at the City Office and she immediately calls the animal control officer and he comes right away. I've never had a problem. Because I've made several calls on animals, we see him on our street once or twice a week just patroling.

I you live in the City of Trinity why dont you go to the next City Council meeting and raise cain about it. Remember those who yell the loudest get the service. The Police Department can ticket the owners also so you call call there too. If you don't get Police service complain to City Council at their public meeting.

I live outside the city limits of Trinity, already drug one d my neighbor's dogs off 356 after he met his maker due to thinking he was invincible and a car showed him different. The neighbors promptly replaced that dog with a puppy, and they are failing to keep the puppy contained. I am not going to drag another dog off the road because they are too irresponsible to contain him. Wondering why irresponsible people have animals. County will be called to come get the pup in the next couple days.
