The Constable James Reynolds served in the capasity of Truant Officer for Trinity's school district for years until unable to function more. Maybe now is the time to put someone there more permanently.

A truant officer, however, performs his duties mostly off campus (that's where the truant kids are).

There should be more gay teachers in school. They love and teach the kids much better. I'm gay and if I could teach I would. I don't believe in guns I believe in loving children.

I am sorry but, pushing someone with a squewed version of gender on under age children just does not sit well with me.

Our school district does pretty well when it comes to truancy in my opinion.
I have worked in other schools that have had full time cops on campus. They mostly cover disciple, writing tickets for cuss words, very disruptive behavior, and drugs. They also monitor the cameras placed around the schools. It's very costly for this, and with budget cuts it's some of the first jobs to go. I have seen where school districts have hired cops themselves, and I have seen where the city has paid for them to be at the schools.
Overall, I feel this is an extreme measure, I feel safe at my school I am at now, and see this would be not needed.

Understand that the deceased principal at Sandy Hook probably felt this way up until the day she died.

Oh defiantly, and it was such a tragedy what happened to those families, and the families of Columbine, and even the families of the shooting at the movie theater this summer, and was it Penn State that the shootings, regardless what college it was- But, putting a cop at places we all attend is not going to stop these tragic events from happening!

If we were to put a cop to do all our school in trinity- they will spend most of their time at the high school and middle school. If a major tragic event were to happen at the intermediate or elementary school the firemen or city cops would make it to those school much faster!

I have worked with my school for our extreme emergency procedure, that I will not share, because then the bad guys know the plan of action, which makes the plan known.

I am responsible for the lives of all the children in my classroom and myself and will do everything in my power to keep us all safe! And let their parents know we are safe!

I also have an emergency kit with first aid, food and water, flashlight, parent contacts, with much more.

I pray that I will never have to use it, but it's there if I need it.

I have had students threaten to do harm, I have had intruders on my campuses before, on multiple occasions, and I have had full out intruder drills.

I have also taught where gang members are my students, and had to deal with major gang issues.( On a side note, in the classroom they are some of the best behaved students, that care about their education, they have made horrible life decisions, and most will not be alive by the age of 25)

I have also witnessed a student try to take a gun off the holster of a cop while he was in our building, two classrooms down from me- he wanted to touch it, not violent by any means! But still, it concerns me just having guns in the building. Because I have witnessed things like this before. I have taught at three different districts, so don't assume this is Trinity!

These violent acts are very upsetting, but are very very rare on a full scale of things! What is more upsetting and very very real at Trinity is drugs in school and teen pregnancies.

I see alot of kids walking around Trinity, dressed like street walkers, thugs. What Trinity needs is a better dress code.

That's a learned behavior! When you enforce the dress code here, the majority of Trinity parents don't see anything wrong with it! And that's wrong in itself!
