I am writing this letter as an advocate for children that are the victims of bullying. I don't know if the school has admitted to knowing that this teen was the victim of bullying or not but if they were and didn't do anything to stop it, they are just as responsible for what occurred as the teen is. Granted, school violence should never be the answer for the victims of bullying to resort to. But please understand this, the kids are forced, by law, to attend our schools and these schools should be a safe place for them. As the kids attend the schools and are bullied, many times schools turn a blind-eye to the bullying and the kids are left to deal with it on their own, trapped with nowhere to turn. Then the schools are surprised when something such as this occurs? It has been proven that 2/3 of school shooters reported that they had been severely harrassed. Teen suicides due to bullying are also on the rise. Understand that the school shooters feel suicidal anyway and therefore have nothing to lose because they want to die during the attack. All they want is for the pain to end. I have to wonder if the bullies at this school that were involved in this incident have been punished at all. If I were to guess, I'd say no as this is usually the case. If I am wrong, I truly apologize. Anti-bullying laws have been passed in 41 states thus far. Wisconsin has a bill that has not been passed yet but I encourage everyone that is interested to please contact your state senators to get this passed. It will hold our school systems accountable for ignoring bullying. This bill is the "2009 Senate Bill 154" and is available for review on the State of Wisconsin Senate website. Please realize that bullying has risen to new levels and the harrassment and torture our children are expected to deal with is not something we as adults would ever put up with. Thanks for your time and consideration on this matter.

I agree 100%!! We have got to address the bullies as well as providing support to those who are victims! I tried to look this Bill up as stated, however, I am not finding it. I am determined to be a voice in getting Anti-bullying (inclusive of Cyber-bullying) Laws passed in Wisconsin. Can I have more details so I can find this Bill proposal? Thanks for being an advocate in standing up for our children!!

I'm writing this in reply to the inquiry about the Anti-bullying Senate Bill # 154. To find this bill, go to Wisconsin Legislature website and click on "Bill and Rule Histories." Type in "Senate Bill 154". I hope that you have success finding this. If not, please write another post. Also, I like to visit " bullypolice.org " as this gives great information on bullying including the state laws. You may even find a link on there to Wisconsin Legislature. This is worth checking out. Thanks for your interest and reply, Bless You!
