Mother, 5-Year-Old Daughter Killed in Wilkes Crash - WGHP

A mother and her 5-year-old daughter were killed in a head-on collision on the way to school Tuesday morning in Wilkes County, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

My thoughts go out to any family of Brittany and her little angel Makayla. The simple act of wearing a seat belt could have made the outcome of this incident so much better. My car doesn't move until everyone is buckled in.

I don't understand why charges are not even being consider if she (Huffman) was driving at an unsafe speed for the weather conditions. I understnd that Dancy and her daughter were not wearing their seatbelts, but that shouldn't mean that Huffman doesn't get charged for anything. Does Fox 8 know why there are no charges pending?

My thoughts and prayers go out to both families. This could happen to any one of us at anytime. This young lady's job is to save lives, which she does everyday and she would do anything to change this outcome if she could. Some people should be a little more compasionate (JoAnn).

FOX 8 Has the story wrong. Huffman car did not hydroplane, Dancy was left of center in a curve, it was her fault. You can't charge a dead person

This article is mistaken. Huffman was not at fault. She pulled onto shoulder and was still hit head on. Dancy lost control of the car and crossed the center line. Huffman was a hero. She pulled the little girl out of the car and did CPR on her until the ema arrived. We need more people like her in the world

I am the mother of Sarah Huffman and Fox 8 has incorrectly reported the news. Dancy was left of center Sarah had pulled off the road to avoid the accident and had almost stopped her vehicle before the impact. My daughter is devastated about the accident and would appreciate your prayers.

it was reported wrong originally....but when tragedies like this happen everyone is so quick to point fingers instead of praying for the people involved. Lets all say a prayer for everyone involved.

Who cares what the article reads and whatever the charges! It is a sad day, a child is gone, a young mother is gone and a family must now deal with the tragic responsibility of putting them to rest.
