Hello! I've just stumbled upon these forums and was hoping to get some opionins of Boomer, NC and the surrounding area. My wife and I are thinking of purchasing some land out there and it'll be a few years before we can make the trip to see it for ourselves. We used to live in Greensboro years ago and liked it very much. We made the trip up to Blowing Rock and Boone a few times and really liked it.

So does anyone have any opinions of Boomer? Has anyone visited Majestic Mountain (a new community just outside of Boomer)?

Any and all replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I live in Boomer. I have seen the Majestic Mountain community and it is very beautiful! If you are planning on purchasing land, I say go for it if you like mountains and small towns. The Boomer area is very small. It only has a post office, a country store, a baseball field, a community center, a school, a medical center, and a caution light. However, it is about 15 miles from Wilkesboro, 25 miles from Lenoir, 25 miles from Taylorsville, and about 1 hour away from Winston Salem and Boone. I would recommend it! I love it here. It is nice to look out at the stars at night, get a good nights rest without the bustle of busy streets of cities, and nice people.:) I hope that this helps!

also, there is a website called Gowilkes.com that you may be able to get information on. I would watch out though, at times the people on the site can be very negative towards people, especially about the county. They do not like it because it does not have enough shopping places for them, or things to do like bigger cities do. It is a nice place to live though! I really like it. My husband and I drove up around the Majestic Mountain community one day just to see what it was. It has wonderful views and very nice homes built so far. If you like the mountains, you will love this place.

Hey! My husband and I fell in love with Majestic Mountain and purchased two lots #33 and #34 two years ago. When they opened the Green Point section of Majestic Mountain, we fell in love with Lot No. 11 and purchased that also. We now have the other two properties for sale. Although Lot No. 34 has a distant view of the mountains, we decided to go for the broader look if we ever decided to live there. Sounds like we have lots of money, right? No, we couldn't get enough money together to build, so we decided to invest in another lot we really liked. It is beautiful in the area. Distant views--the new lot we purchased looks 40 miles to Grandfather's Mountain. Booner truly is a crossroad. What Jennifer doesn't tell you is North Wilkesboro is about 10 to 12 miles away. It is a quaint town with just about anything you need... hello, EVEN A WALMART! Anyway, if you need more information, you should probably email me for I stumbled onto this site and may NEVER FIND IT AGAIN! It is certainly worth a trip East to see these sites. pherrman@3rddoor.com

Hello G. Wilson. My family and I relocated to Wilkes County from the Miami metropolis, where we were used to big city amenities such as an abyndance of restaurants, stores, shopping malls, a & e and more. But along with this came the traffic, big-city life attitude, over-crowded schools and so on. Wilkes County has a lot to offer, don't be fooled by the fact it is a town. I use the term 'big-small-town' or 'tiny-city' when describing the area to my clients (I am a licensed North Carolina Broker/Agent and Realtor). Boomer is a very nice area in a very good location within minutes to both downtown Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro, Kerr Scott and many other area attractions. Majestic Mountain is truly beautiful and the views are well, breathtaking. I have some clients who are thinking of putting their immaculately-maintained 2-bedroom cabin on the market soon. They fell in love with MM (as many do) and in general with Wilkes County. Wilkes has a great school system, shops, a good amount of restaurants (with some recently opened ones), a very well-equipped hospital, a brand-new 20K diagnostic center, mountains, creeks and rivers, rolling hills and just plain beauty. If you would like to get to know more about the county, please feel free to visit my website: http://www.wilkesrealestate.net . I have area maps, information, photos. I have a blog website, a link for local news, and a free link to search the mls. I love the county and love to share information on it with everyone. Hope this helps, Shakti.

i own a small home there and have a beautiful view. i dont think you can find more peace anywhere else on earth for the prices there. i love that it is gated, there is hardly any traffic and there is no noise whatsoever other than nature. we have owned there 2.5 years and have had no trouble with anything whatsoever. we priced cabins all over NC and GA and nothing else compared pricewise. we may be moving to the eastern seaboard soon and having to sell ours :(

My husband and I have also bought on Majestic. We have long and range views to the west, and we enjoy our summer and winter visits to Wilkes County...fishing and swimming at the lake is just minutes away. Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro provide restaurants and quaint stores and Boone and skiing are just 45 minutes away. We currently live in Fl. but hope to retire to Wilkes county in the future. majestic mountain-so far- has been a very welcoming place and for me it is "home."
