§ 19.2-191. Functions of a grand jury.

The functions of a grand jury are twofold:

(1) To consider bills of indictment prepared by the attorney for the Commonwealth and to determine whether as to each such bill there is sufficient probable cause to return such indictment "a true bill."

(2) To investigate and report on any condition that involves or tends to promote criminal activity, either in the community or by any governmental authority, agency or official thereof. These functions may be exercised by either a special grand jury or a regular grand jury as hereinafter provided.

(1975, c. 495; 1980, c. 517; 2001, c. 4.)

Hey Mom: I know, there is not a perfect county/city anywhere. Politics happens to be a dirty game. However, I do know many on the BOS,Planning Commission and School Board in York Cty. remember when Gloucester was part of York....that is why I MOVED from Gloucester, in part, Sheriff Stanaway. I know first hand what that county was leaning towards and I wanted NO part of it. I still feel connected to York,Gloucester....my old roots 1611 set foot on that soil and Jamestown. So, having said that, you guys need to study every move the BOS,Planning Commission make. Let it be known.....

That sounds familiar. Think I read that somewhere afore. About sickles and some kind of movie music. I don't get why I'd need rope tho. Honest, I won't need to be hogtied to sit on a Grand Jury.

I hope that Atty Hicks can call for a grand jury and that this whole mess can be investigated very thoroughly. I personally know of about 20 people who have written letters requesting further investigation. It would be nice to have true and complete info on all the parties invoilved in this, and if it has to go back a few years then let it! I'm particularly interested in the issues that seem to indicate the BOS and the Planning Commission has members that benefit financially from decisions made by the respective boards. I'm still shocked that Altemus appointed Ressler to the Planning Commission when Ressler is a partner in a proposal before the Commission. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all vote ourselves financially secure?
