Crete Parade

I read that the Crete Christmas festival and parade might not happen this year, due to merchant non-participation? What about volunteers from the residents? Then we could have a Christmas party for the volunteers..

I talked with Nancy Johnson the other day about this when I was at her restaurant for lunch. She says the same small group of people have been organizing the events ever since it started and they're getting kinda tired. Need more people (either merchants or the general public) to help them do stuff. She mentioned riding along with the trolley, working with the children at various activities, handing out flyers and posters to be put in windows, maybe some help with the parade itself. I don't think the parade is the problem as much as the daily activities. She said they desperately want some "fresh ideas". I've seen this everywhere -- committee burnout. I suppose anyone who wants to get involved can either talk to her at Annie's Cafe, or get in touch with Trustee Millburn. I would have to see this go away, too.
