it is ok to drive drunk and break laws in gallatin county if you are a cop, fireman or elected offical. how many places would make a dui arrest go away for a county cop? and how many dui's had this man had yet he keeps his pay, insurance and retirement.

That's a good question. There's a double standard around here. If you are "connected", then you can commit all the crime you want to, but if you are not, then you get the book thrown at you. |

Could you all give it a break, you all want to bash everyone in Gallatin County but what about all the Famous people that do stupid things. Look what the get hit with. Usually nothing and you all want to bash the cops, judges and Neil Miles. Just remember one day you may make a mistake and people will be doing the same thing on here bashing you and your family. Remember OJ did he get what he deserved? I don't hear anyone bashing him right now. Everyone will pay for their own mistakes, God will see to it but they will be forgiven. |

15 years would have been the correct jail time.
Had his parents not have bought him out of all of his other D.U.I.'s this terrible thing would not have happened.I am tired of watching my daughter cry herself to sleep because of what HE did and was out partying as soon as he was out of the hospital. |

I live in Gallatin county and I am a newcomer by that I mean not related to anyone here and I know no one here i am from a whole different part of the US...and I have observed it to be exactly as you are describing and then some...I never knew settling in the country that i would see and hear of such....these God fearing folks are something else...hiding all their dirt and crimes...all the while holding official positions...it makes living here among such folks to be frightening...there is a difference in being bad and being bad in a position of power... |

I do not know anyone. I just want to say, I was one of the first on the scene of the accident. I continue to pray for Samantha's family. I will never forget that night. I now have 2 daughters of my own and I would like for someone who knows the family personally to tell them this for me, because I know if it had been one of my daughters in that car I would want to know, or maybe find a bit of solace.
Sam was not alone that night. I do not know if she was alive, she did not respond, however I held her hand and I prayed with her. I prayed aloud the Our Father and the Hail Mary. I did not know her name, I simply called her "baby" and stayed with her until the firemen came. I am sorry it has taken me so long to reach out, and this is not at all a joke, or a falsehood. I am so very sorry for your loss, and I promise I tried everything to help her, and I am so very sorry but I could not. I pray for your family everyday, and have recently felt a strong urge to tell you that I was with her. May God Bless You All. Please advise that her family has been told. thank you |

I am Samantha spades brother. I appreciate your comment, and am thankful that she was not alone. I would like to talk to you personally. Is there any way we could get together and talk about that night? |

What is tragic here is that a young woman left this world far too soon at the hands of someone else who shouldnt have been on the road in the first place. He was given too many chances to make good choices and someone else had to pay the price, Samantha Spade.
Regardless of who mailed the postcard it doesnt alter the facts of what happened. A beautiful young woman lost her life, needlessly, and her family and friends have forever to grieve and miss her. No matter where the drunk driver is now, it won't bring her back. So the fact that were all reminded of her passing is a moment to reflect on how such a tragedy occurred and to take whatever steps we feel necessary to ensure it doesnt happen to our loved ones in whatever way that means to you individually. Lets take a moment to put all this anger aside, say a prayer for her family and instead of bickering take your voice to your local polling location and do something about it. That's what election day is all about. |

Mistake, accident.... Any other excuses you might want to make for her killer. In order for something to be an accident you can't have purposely taken action. He may not have meant to take her life. He did however mean to get behind the wheel drunk. Therefore; it was no accident. It was his knowing actions. Everyone knows there are consequences for your actions. Sadly, Sam was the one that face those consequences. Yeah, he's in prison, but he will be home one day and be able to hug his family and go on with his life. Sam and her family will not. So save the bleeding heart excuses for a killer. |
