I live around the corner from were the accident happen. We were inside when we heard the crash then sirens. From the looks of scene the car that struck the motorcycle never stopped as there was no skid marks behind the car. The motorcycle landed 50 feet in front of the car and (who I know now as Keith) motorcyclist landed about 20 feet behind the car. I still sit and think of this poor man and how it could have happened. If someone has any more info. Please post. Good Bless Keith’s family and friends, even though I never meet him he is now forever in my thoughts!!!!!!

this story could not be further from the truth the motorcycle did not land anywhere since it was still connected to the car when police arrived. and he was not thrown that far. thank you for the thoughts and prayers.

we both landed on the front of the car- hitting our heads on the windshield -the car went towards the guardrail with the bike still stuck in the front---he hit us so hard you can see approximately half of the tire imprint in the hood of the car!!!!!!!!!! Walter J. Kaleta is responsible for all this----he is in for a long jail term!!!!!!!!!!

i am a distant relative of the driver...i barely knew him (walter) but i am ashamed, embarassed, and in mourning for the victim and his family. i CANNOT imagine the pain the victims family and friends must be enduring right now, and i pray and hope for a "new" sense of peace for them eventually.

I am the mother of Walter and I want to give my apologies to the family and friends of Keith for both me and my son. You have no idea how much pain this has caused me and my family, especially my son. I know you are quick to judge my son, but let me tell you, I raised a very good boy. He was not a drinker, a druggie, a gangster or anything else you are imagining he is. He is a 20 year old boy who was going to be a junior in college majoring in engineering. He had a 3.75 GPA. He was helping me raise my 3 other children as I lost my husband. I can honestly count on 1 hand how many times he has drank in his lifetime, and for a 20 year old boy I find that quite impressive. He was always the sober responsible one. The night this happened, he thought he was losing the love of his life, the only girlfriend he has ever had, because he never had time for a girlfriend, as he was always helping me raise a family as he is the man of the house. He had poor judgement that night, as he is not normally a drinker it caught up to him quite quickly. It is so unimaginable to me that something like this has happened to him. I guess honestly this could probably have happened to almost anyone. How many people can honestly say that they have never drank and drove in their lifetime? Honestly? Not very many would be my guess. I am not condoning my son's actions, we will forever be sorry and changed by this. Just please don't be so quick to judge when you don't even know the circumstances or the wonderful boy my son is, who is now sitting in a jail cell completely suicidal.

Thanks for throwing your guilt trip in all our faces!Of course your worried about your son and his high GPA he threw away with his choice to drink and drive.

What about those who lost their son, friend and brother.Your too damn busy rambling about how good your son is and how much he helped you raise your other kids. Bottom line,he screwed up and now a man is dead.

Like the old saying "If you cant do the time, dont do the crime."

He made a bad choice and now he has to pay for it.The only good thing that can come out of all this is that maybe it will teach other young adults that drinking and driving dont mix.

You know what, he made a big mistake, huge. But the key word is it was a MISTAKE. Everyone makes mistakes, only this time the mistake severely affected a lot of peoples lives for which we will be sorry for every day for the rest of our lives. It is not like this was intentional and deliberate. And I don't know who you are talking about because I do not have a husband and Wally does not have a father so you must be confused with someone else. And by the way, I know someone who was at the same bar that you and Keith were drinking at that night, and that Keiths BAC was also above the legal limit so dont act like you two were saints, like I said, everyone makes mistakes. We ARE truly sorry and if we could turn back time we would.

he is doing time vida, i am not arguing that, I am just saying that he is a very good person who made a big mistake and will pay for that mistake every day for the rest of his life. And no I do not have a boyfriend who goes to a bar on Cicero. I am the most anti alcohol person on this planet and my boyfriend does not drink, ever. And my family is only troubled by this tragedy. So you are confused with someone else. And I do hope that every parent is telling their children not to drink and drive. I am looking into who bought the alcohol and who let him drive. But you know what, what is done is done and you cant take it back as much as you would like. You can accept our deepest sympathies and apologies or not. God teaches forgiveness and I am working on this myself because anger gets you no where. God blesses those who learn to forgive.
