There is an obvious serious problem with drugs in and around Creston!! This is nothing new. I think we all need to wake up and pay attention!! We need to figure out how we can do something as a community to try and get this problem under control. I however believe that the welfare system is not helping!! There are way to many people sitting around on their asses not getting jobs and paying there own bills!! There are destroying properties all over and dealing drugs...meanwhile we all work and pay for their worthless asses!! Sorry but I feel that makes the drugs even worse!!

Get jobs and be responsible people!

It's starts from the top people. Haven't you ever heard of the trickle down effect. If the people in charge look the other way, what is the outcome. Take a look around Creston. Our former mayor and police chief only made this nightmare worse.

I was born and raised here, and I am no spring chicken, drugs have always been a problem. So many have never understood , as many us common people know who is using drugs, so why is it that the officers of the law do not know, or is it they do not want to know, or is it because of "who" is using or "who" is dealing..kind of like everything else about a small town, depends on who you are !!!!!!!!!!

why are the same people getting busted all the time and allowed to prey on your community. the entire law enforcement is corrupt, stop all the complaining and do something. your town is riddled with meth addicts and thieves. this is allowed to go on so your government can say there is a problem to receive monies from the programs designed to stop the problems. any town the size of creston does not need a police force the size of yours. the problems are allowed to perpetuate so the grants keep comming. ostracize the scum, you all know who they are. become an actual community, don't hire them, quite giving them a free ride. most of all do not be afraid of them, unite and conquer. demand action from elected officials, or vote them out

I have always thought a person needs to pass a drug test to collect welfare...I have to in order to collect a paycheck and pay into the system that supports them.

Drug test for child support? I don't follow..you mean if the person with the child is using?
If so, agreed! BUT if you do that, the other parent should have to test also..which SHOULD eliminate visitation. That is a different topic though..BUT in this case it should go ALL ways to do what is best for the child! PEOPLE on drugs should not get there children at all!!
Anyway, different topic!

i agree with you. you see without the ability to bleed every 28 days and produce tears on demand, fathers are not deemed to be the proper parent in most cases. the "system" will bend over backwards for a female. allow her to continue to make mistakes ie live in boyfriend does or sells drugs, do drugs herself get "treatment" many times, even convicted for drug offences. the onus is then placed on the father to convince a prejudiced system to remove the children. this backfires in some cases and the children are placed in the system themselves. the use of illeagle drugs being the incubuse to the disolvement of the union between the parents.

The drug problem in Creston, is not nearly as bad as it was back in the late 80's and early 90's.

The types of drugs being used now seem to have more harsh effects. I was in the drug era you mentioned and it seemed everyone was using. Alot of people maintained their professional and personal lives...barely. Perhaps I was not paying as much attention back then. Maybe myself and other people who caused the problem back then have decided to live a cleaner life.

Something needs to be done. This could destroy the community. Drug use is rampant in the schools (not just the high school, I have heard of several kids caught at middle school with drugs on them), at the community college and in the business community. Not to mention that it seems like most of the unemployed in town are finding enough money to support their drug habit. It is embarrassing when you go to Wal-Mart and can see at least half a dozen people visibly under the effects of drugs or alcohol.

Again agree! No parent should be using any illegal substance and get their child!! Zero tolerance...BUT the system also does NOT protect the child going to a visitation where one parent has been in trouble with the law (for serious crimes that is) or using drugs. That does nothing to help the child either.
YES, there seems to be plenty of money for these users who don't even have jobs!! BUT that also goes back to the welfare system being out of control. To many hand outs going out to people who don't choose to better themselves and live off of all the tax payers. To many children are growing up in these messes. This is our future people.... The drugs are so harsh and powerful people are getting really messed up and the children are falling through the cracks and ending up a mess themselves!
