you couldnt be more wrong jeff.
township access taxes on your property not the village and when the ecomny rebounds watch your property tax bounce right back uo along with your higher sales tax
Wrong,

Township sets the multiplier and asseses the property. The village sets the tax rate for it's portion of the bill. The village has reduced it's tax rate. Learn before you burn.

Yet another attempt to distort the truth. The Village is not out of money. Do you read or watch anything? The village continues to have a much healthier budget than any of the other communities in the area. Just look at a newspaper and you would know that as a fact. The new Village Hall is under budget, by a lot! And if you actually look at what the board is doing they are lowering property taxes as the same time. Educate yourself before you post next time.

I swear sometimes people are just looking for stuff to be pissed about. OK, go shop in Joliet or Bolingbrook or Crest Hill or Plainfield or Naperville or Lockport or just about anywhere else. You happily pay their taxes I'll bet. Better yet, drive over to Orland or somewhere else in Cook County, then you'll have the treat of giving them your tax dollars.
You know, the fact of the matter, not that you should let facts influence your paranoia at all, is that our village has run a budget surplus recently. Not many places can say that. Now they have taken the step to raise a tax that spreads the burden to anyone that shops in Romeoville rather than raising the property taxes, which it is their right to do by Illinois law. It really doesn't matter who does the assessing when the local government can increase their slice of the pie without new assessments.
So, go ahead, take your tax dollars over to another municipality, but make sure you don't complain when you don't get the services you want. Taxes are a reality, judiciously applied taxes are a rarity. I personally don't ever care to pay higher taxes if I don't have to, but when my local government has shown themselves to be responsible with my tax dollars in the past, I'll presume they're on my side and the side of keeping the community strong.

seems that the only answer Government can come up with is raise taxes, raise taxes and raise taxes.
