The Homer people on this site are playing games with their minds if they think for one minute the Lockport people will EVER vote for a new school. It is beyond belief that they keep putting this measure up like we are a bunch of fools. If they want their elaborate building let them divide from us. No way are we voting for a new school. In fact the kids of Crest Hill could easily go to Romeoville and if Lockport High School ever, which it does not now, need to expand they can do so at their East campus and use the land they have for athletics. That is the way it is Homer people, the answer is NO!!!!!
Everyone keeps saying homer was in favor. Look at the records, I don't call a 51% a overwhelming yes. Notice how the school board never wants to put on a ballot when there is a major election and they know the voters will turn out. Homer is truly not in favor totally of the school either. Now if it was say 90% approval with a 80% turnout or so, then I would say that is in support, but a 51% with a low turnout is not something to get excited about. Again, enrollment is continuing to decline, just check the feeder districts kindergarten enrollment, means we are good for at least another 10 yrs without worrying about overcrowding. Remember they just added on classrooms at East, Central is being fixed, so why spend 150mil just so a few in Homer get their way and their non-athletic child gets on a team. VOTE NO EVERYTIME!!

The problem with this whole thing is that the desperate measures they took to try and get this passed drove a wedge through the voting public causing animosity on all sides. They turned it into a Hatfield and McCoy’s. I think it would be as foolish to say that you would never vote for a new school as it has been for them to say that we needed one the last six years. I voted against it six times but If the day comes that it is real need I would vote for a well thought out equitable plan. Until that day they should stick a pin in this thing.

No means no for years to come. The economy is suppose to recover in six to ten years. Maybe then they can revisit it, not until then!

I say we put a cap on the number of kids you can have in the school system. No more than two kids at the same time. If you choose to have any more little blessings than that home school them!

You need to go to China. There is no problem, Homer is manufacturing a fairy tale and the people of Lockport have voted this down over and over. Lockport has given their message. There is room for all the children that go there and if necessary ever they can build up at East. It is good enough for all the little darlings, education is education. As a school superintendent told me how many times are they going to run this? It is ridiculous! It is not necessary, they know it, and all know it. There is nothing worse than having a referendum put before the public over and over and think the result is going to be different. In their dreams, maybe, and not any other way!

Fiscally this makes no sense and the high school has a record of raising taxes and dishonesty that they will not be able to recover from. Enrollment has been decreasing and the market is in the can for at least another decade.
Lincolnway has empty seats from passing their referendums and we would have the same if we had done so. A suggestion would be to redraw the boundaries so that the southern half of Homer Glen goes to Lincolnway and fill their empty seats.
Fix Central. No one wants to see an abandon building in their town and this won't be supported by Lockport.
There is no way my children are going to lockport. If Homer won't build its own HS my kids are going to Providence. Though I like your idea of southern Homer going to Lincolnway schools .

See ya!! Enjoy paying your taxes to the horrible Lockport High school while paying the $15,000 in tuition every year. Some people are just dumb. You are one of them.

NO new schools for now, just look at Lincoln-way school district so see what a mess a tax and spend school board can make. residents will be paying the bonds off for 30 years for practically new closed school building.

as for Lockport central remember the school board issued 30 Million in bonds to modernize
the building. it is very structurally sound .

Homer Townsip residents
be sure to vote YES on the tax referendum march 15th
the referendum ALL tax increases by government taxing bodies must be put to a vote by the residents.

so if you want more money to go to for example schools or fire district you can vote yes
but they will not be able to keep implementing tax increases without voter approval.

The "referendum" on the ballot is a non-binding referendum. That means it's all bark and no bite. The only thing that is going to happen is that Balich and the Tea Party nuts are going to say next year, "look at this or that person in that town they voted to levy taxes". You know, the same thing that the County Board does every year to pay its bills. There isn't one responsible taxing body that will vote to not levy taxes. After all, streets have to be repaired, water mains fixed, police need to protect, firefighters need to put out fires, school teachers need to teach.

Unfortunately, the Tea Party nuts believe that no government is good government. That of course has never worked EVER in the history of mankind. Don't fall for the Tea Party nonsense. Whether you vote yes or vote no for the Balich referendum it won't have any direct effect on any taxing body. So, just vote no.
