The PWD is the ONLY utility company that does not assist customers when they need it.
My husband, who served the community as a dentist, for 20 years years, was forced into retirement due to the devasting disease of ALS, commonly called Lou Gehrig's disease.
Our total family life was turned upside down.
As the medical bills increase, our total family's income was slowly decling.
EVERY other utility company was compasionate in our current situation and over temporary assistance by either offering a lower monthly plan or placing us on a disability plan.
The Water District did nothing to assist...NOTHING.
They offer no temporary solutions to a family hitting difficult times. Never mind the fact that we have been in San Diego our entire adult lives, paid property taxes, worked and NEVER asked for charity, only assistance until we could manage our finances to met the current economic crisis along with a devastating disease destoying our family.
We need a fresh, caring professional who can look at the PEOPLE paying the bills, not an account number.
I believe there are many, many families like ours, who could use a small helping hand for a situation they are trying to work with. Not a cold hearted company that just cares about the amount of money it receives evry month.
Compare the services offered by SDG&E to the water company and you will see that the PWD doesn't offer to look at your property and see where you can save, nor help in assisting you make the changes.
I will vote for a candidate that cares about changing the way they assist every person in their community to save water and offer programs that help maintain their budget as well.
Our current incumbents have not looked into what THEY can do do help people save water. It's time for a change!
