i have to at least thank nbc for having this story, i tried padre dam's website as well as other news stations' and could find no information...reminds me of the lack of information during cedar fires...small communities can be easily overlooked, but there are lots of us out here (forgive lowercases, holding my newborn while i type one-handed). thanks

I too searched Padre Dam's website, as well as the San Diego Co. Health Dept.'s site; not one word about the water main break. Here I learn this happened at noon today, yet I didn't receive an automated warning call from Padre Dam until 8:00pm?! Thanks a lot!! Then the call doesn't even say what contaminates may be present, only that drinking the water without boiling it first will result in stomach and/or intestinal problems.

I already resent having fluoride in the water forced on me, and now I learn that I stand a good chance of becoming ill because I wasn't told that my tap water was contaminated until 8 hours after the fact, and I'm recovering from surgery that I had just last week. Do I detect a class action lawsuit on behalf of all those who become ill due to Padre Dam's negligence of not notifying affected customers immediately?

Another total public relations failure all too reminiscent of the 2003 Cedar Fire.

My daughter spent this morning vomiting! Here's something we can all do about this situation. The fault lies with the members of Padre Dam Municipal Water District's Board of Directors. They make a fortune off of us, the customers, so why do they allow the pipes we rely upon to get so old, and then not have the decency to properly inform us in a timely manner that the water we're drinking is tainted?

Since they won't be arrested for poisoning us, the next time these people are up for re-election vote them out. I have met them all and have never seen such a smug and conceited Board of Directors. These highly overpaid bureaucrats run this fouled-up water show and the blame rides with them. They are: James Maletic, Division 1; Augie Scalzitti, Division 2; Andrew Menshek, Division 3; August Caires, Division 4; Dan McMillan, Division 5. I say they need to be replaced.

Thank you Scott I have those names on my kick out list.
As VP of my old Apple Valley Water Board of Directors our first concern was our customers.
So mote it be !!

Thank you Don. It is refreshing to know that some water boards really care about their customers. I own a public relations company and, like your Board of Directors, our first concern is our customers. This dedicated practice demonstrates integrity, is truly ethical, and makes good business sense.
