Battle Mountain does have alot of wonderful people!!! Kind, caring, compassionate. It's small enough that people know each other, for the most part get along. A town where our children can actually play outside, walk to the store or walk to get a movie. There's beautiful mountain ranges to go hiking, horseback riding, ponds and streams to go fishing & camping. Wide open desert space for atv's. Awsome canyons. There's alot here if you enjoy the outdoors & have an imagination. No smogfilled, overcrowded, crime infested city life here.

If you want to know aboutthe schools, as a parent I am happy with them.
My son is in the H.S. now. High School sports are great and get support.
BMHS' wrestling teams are the best in the State, bringing home the Gold 9 out of 10 years running.
I live in Eureka County, and my child is bussed to Lander County. I feel that he is safe there. I am not afraid for him after walking to his sisters house after sports practices,(even after dark) He plays all the sports he can get into!
The schools still have a Music Program, and teachers that care.(You can even call them at home! Try to do that in the big city!)
I moved out here more than 10 years ago to escape California. My children have all recieved a wonderful education.
I also feel safe. I don't worry all the time about having the doors locked.
Aside from all of the posts on the topic, the Sheriffs Officers in Lander County have always treated me square.
Battle Mountain is not a big town, not many in Nevada are. It is a more relaxed style of living.
It gets cold in the winter. Not snowy all of the time, but winters vary. The summers get hot, hot and dry.
If you want trees, you will most likely have to plant them, this is the high desert, the Great Basin Desert.(Not like as Vegas!)
It gets dusty in the summer, and muddy in the winter. Enjoy.

Hello to all,
I was working a mine claim , owned by a woman who worked at the hospitol , in 1982 april 3rd , my daughter was born .while I was working this claim with 2 brothers. A german hydrolic miner operated the claim in the early 1900's .
I have tryed to get back there for the past 27 years now. My 5 children are grown , my wife just passed away of cancer , and this has been 1 of my ( bucket List ) wants for many years , I am Leaving here the middle of next week , headed that way . I am trusting that Things will somehow work out , but I will need help .
If you have any imformation about the claim ( 11 miles out of town on Hill rd.) please contact me at e-mail [email protected] . If you have a small trailer I could use , or rent for a week , and or have a place where an old timer , could pan for a few days , I would be eternally grateful ,
