This is the best thing that hit abbeville. Now I know why they say the food is addictive I've been eating there everyday, diet or no diet I just can't help myself!

OK guys i'm back .Are you ready? First of all there was a big round pulpit looking thing in the middle of the floor that gave the place an even more church like look, but some how it did not bother me to much as I was not shocked this time by the long skirt waitresses. I had meat loaf, mashed potatoes and corn and a roll, it was very basic food, nothing to write home about. The service was a little too good, they keep bugging me to see if everything was alright. The bill was once again 11.99 + 2.00 tip = 13.99 still a bit expensive. I bought one of the pies by the register, coconut, it cost 3.00. I must say the pie crust was very good, it seemed to be made from a corn meal flour. I suspect the filling was from a can. All in all the pie was the high light of the meal. My experence was a bit better this time, but i think the price is to much. If you could get out of there for 10 bucks they would see alot more of me.The bar in there is really nice. I was wondering what they would do if i ordered a cocktail. Do they use the bar or is it just "there". I know you haters are going to have at me, but there it is. Good Day

Not too bad of a post, Deerslayer! At least you gave it another chance and everyone is entitled to their personal opinion. So if you feel that it is too expensive, just don't go back. There are a few restaurants in Lafayette that have gone up on prices for lunch as well. I found myself spending $12 on lunch at Dwight's. That was my last visit there.

It's places like Popeyes with their tiny little chicken pieces that drive me mad. A Popeyes dinner can run you 8 bucks a person easy. For the record, Popeyes in Abbeville will never see me again. Too slow, bad service. Popeyes glory days are gone. They will be the next one out of business.

I think it's ridiculous that they're not open in the evenings.

Ate there yesterday for breakfast. Their white gravy on biscuits was very tasty - definitely home-made. Their buffet line had more offerings than CC's and the price was about the same. Like that they serve cush-cush -- enjoyed that as well. Nice map of Vermilion Parish painted on the floor of the main dining area. Service was friendly and fast. Good, strong coffee, too!

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXPENSIVE FOR A BUFFET.
My wallet was injured paying for that buffet.
In these tough times I dont think people will be able to afford $10 or more for a simple lunch.

My first and last dining experience at the newly opened Cafe Maria. I decided on a whim to try out the restaurant as I have been getting bored of the same cuisine here in Abbeville. My first inpression as I walked through the door was "Wow!" The place looked like a wonderful upscale restaurant, The waitresses all dressed very nicely, linen napkins, beautiful decorations and the great feeling that I might get a wonderful meal..I saw this tall chef in full chefs regalia and was looking forward to some great cuisine until I got to the buffet.
With such an upscale look to the restaurant I was not expecting to be served INSTANT MASHED POTATOES with a dried up meatloaf with ketchup on top and some bland cold fried chicken.
What type of home cooking includes instant potatoes?????yuck
I then recieved a bill of 12 bucks or so for the food and drink in a fancy leather bound cheque folder.
I then saw the chef at Robies the next day with 15 boxes of zatarans dirty rice mix and more instant mashed potatoes...
Do they make anything from scratch?????
I found it to be a one star restaurant dressed up to look like a 5 star restaurant.
crappy food and high priced

Hmm. I'm a little heart broken. I happen to like instant mashed potatoes. Now I feel all disturbed inside.

IIIIIIIIMMMMMMMM BAaAAAAAaaaccckkkk!!! I smell jealousy in the air from some of you people who are hating on this cafe. Whoever you are it's probably 90% that you don't own a restaurant or you are on the atkin's diet....I think it is one of the finest restaurants in this area..Stop all the complaining,it must not be that bad.THEY'RE STILL OPEN!!! I've been there several times and I've enjoyed it every time,(And you get More than enough for the price you pay...)Go Caffe Maria's keep up the excellent work!!

Just don't take John Montagne there. He is on a special diet. We need him around for a while longer. Someone already posted he was dead.

Bits and Bytes.....just because you see the chef shopping does not mean he's shopping for the cafe. Did it ever cross your mind that he eats at his house. And to rest your sorry mind the food is delievered. The cafe has been open more than 3 months now. I know deerslayer wanted to see it closed but again he was very wrong. Deerslayer.. maybe you and Bits and Bytes can open up a book store so you can write all this drama in (a) book.
I like to read silly stories made up by little KIDS.

Why eat there and see girls all covered up like nuns when you can go a mile down the road and see Casey. The food is cheaper at ElCaminos and tastes better, too, plus ElCaminos has margaritas and Casey.
