All of my 36 years of living I have traveled many
times to and through Union Point, Ga. On April 10th, 2009, I was on the way to see my dying Grandfather at a nearby medical facility. That particular evening strong storms were heading in my direction and for some reason my back window of my car would not let up. I knew I needed to pull over to a safe place and do my best to secure the window. I felt that pulling over at the new police dept in Union Point would be a safe place and maybe an officer could render some assistance. I pull over and go to the door and a male cop (FAT) I might add opens the office door with a cell in one ear and asked me what I needed and I explained. He pointed in the direction of a dollar store that I could run to to purchase what I needed. I had what I needed with the exeption of his assistance. Guess he was too busy with his phone call on his cell to help someone who was in need of assistance. Anyway, I hope that the actions of this FAT ASS cop in no way reflects on the whole dept. Anyway, thought I would pass along if you are in the area and you need help by all means drive on somewhere else or at least don't bother the fat boy! It takes too much of his energy to do anything but eat! |

And just what kind of assistance did you require that would involve the valuable resources of the Police ? Are you unable to duct-tape some plastic sheeting over your window without law enforcement intervention ?
The fact that the cop was "fat", as you put it, is a matter of your own perception. Almost all cops wear body armour these days, and it can make a cop look 20 pounds heavier than he actually is. Furthermore, his weight has little to do with his abilities to do the job, unless he is grossly obese. Frankly, you'll find small town cops tend to have more "weighty" officers than the big cities, mostly because they have less on-the-job physical activities. And, to draw conclusions that his cell phone call was more important than your dire set of circumstances is ludicrous. Cops very often have department-issued cell phones to communicate sensitive information to other cops, so the communication isn't picked up by the thousand or so people who are glued to their scanner. Why don't you take the test, go to the academy, and put on the uniform before you jump to conclusions. And, learn how to use duct-tape. |

I can attest that he was grossly obese. It was not body armour that made him appear that way. If you knew the area well, you would know if is not a safe haven to stop when having trouble when you are a young female. I guess that I assumed that the public service in the area is like most areas in Georgia where local public service officials will help in any situation but this is one I will never forget. At any rate, I hate you missed seeing the fat bastard that I saw on that day! Have a good one!

Well, I don't know why it says Tamaroon, Il under my screen name, but I AM from this area (Greensboro/Union Point).
In your original post, you didn't explain that you were a young female traveling alone. That might have changed my reply. I hadn't been through UP for some time, but have since you posted. You're right. The officers are despicable !! They are an embarassment to law enforcement. Chief Richard Campbell should be fired. |
