I am not putting blame on anyone, but I don't believe any driver under the age of eightteen should be allowed to drive a vehicle with other minors in the car. It opens up to too much showing off and inattendance to the surroundings.

That stinks. 4 families impacted forever due to a momentary lapse in concentration. :-(

Why were two 15 year old girls with a 17 year old boy? i was not allowed to ride with boys when i was that young. Plus he's only 17. RIP ladies. I feel sorry for their families

While you may get flamed for that comment, unfortunately it takes tragedies like this for people to finally take action to protect our most inexperienced drivers from themselves.

Maybe one of the girls was a sister, step-sister or half sister. At this time, it really doesn't matter. God Bless all involved in this tragedy..

Too bad the star didn`t get the facts before running this story. The 78 year old lady ran the stop sign NOT the teen agers.

A counselor is available for the students at the school but what about the daughter and granddaughter of the wonderful lady who was killed because the kid were too busy to pay attention to the rules of the road.

All the other news sources have the boy running the sign. Maybe the Star is correct not you.

I was not there or do not know any details, but no offense Nancy what makes you think the "the kid" was too busy to pay attention. That is a heavy burden to put on a young person the rest of his life when NOTHING in the article said that he was not paying attention. We are all so quick to judge. I feel badly for everyone concerned but especially for that boy, he is going to have alot to deal with.

We all feel sorry for loss of everyone involved. I am 70 plus and not happy that teenagers are usually blamed due to age. The facts of this accident are clear as the teenagers were on a STATE road and the lady was on a county road and ran the stop sign. The teenagers did not have a stop sign.

"Tippecanoe County Sheriff's deputies say their car failed to stop at an intersection..."

So, you are saying the deputies don't know what they are talking about beacuse...?
Or the Star staff reporter is not able to read a police report?

From WISH TV -8 NEWS:
Police say 17-year-old Tyler Sutton ran through a stop sign and 78-year-old Marilyn Gardner couldn't stop in time.

Sutton's passengers 15-year olds Megan Hinds and Jenna Smith died at the scene. Gardner died later at the hospital. Sutton is now in fair condition.

This same info is on WRTV - 6 news stating the teens car ran the stop sign. This is a tragedy regardless of fault.

whoa.. look at these comments. Prayers are going up for all. Only god knows what happened that night. There were no witnesses, the roads were wet and slick, the young man can't remember a thing as I'm sure he's in shock. Did he run the stop sign, did he slide thru it, did he see the car due to weather conditions? No one knows, so lets not speculate... The FACT is that lives were lost, a young man will be forever impacted by the loss of his friends and an innocent lady whom he never met. We should be praying for all of them, not wasting our time gossipping about it!!

unless you honestly think that the police are making up their report, then the teenager failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in 3 deaths.
"Vehicular manslaughter is a kind of misdemeanor manslaughter, which holds persons liable for any death that occurs because of criminal negligence or a violation of traffic safety laws"
unless this young man has a good explanation for failing to stop (maybe the road was wet or the stop sign was missing or obstructed) then this isn't just some regrettable accident, its a crime.
