I also work at the Crawforsville lab. this closing sucks!!!!!!!!!! We are a family that started 17 years ago. For peolpe to say that we are out dated or obsolete you have never been to our lab. we did good quality work that in the end was not enough. we was always ranked in the top three out of all the labs so tell me why we got closed. we busted our butts everyday. we gave so much up that you do not realize. like during the summer months we would work 10 to 14 hours a day to make sure the film got back to you the customer on time.we gave up family time because we all knew that is what had to be done to get the work out the door. so please don't judge us until you have all the facts!!!

And thatís nice and all, but the bottom line is that this business wasnít profitable enough. Thatís all, nothing more, nothing less.

I work at the Crawfordsville lab, also. While I am a little surprised to see our lab closed before a couple of others, it's not really that big of a shock. Heck, I don't even use a film camera anymore. I can't remember the last time I had film developed. If people handle their digital images properly in regard to storage, file format, etc. then digital is a million times better than film for many reasons. I won't deny it.

Bottom line: Life goes on, and we'll all find jobs somewhere.

Agreed, Fuji Employee. I'm one of the unlucky ones to be out of a job due to this, too. It's laughable that anyone would defend the continued use of film. It's the same as records and cassette tapes. Sure, a few enthusiasts and technology-stragglers use it, but the average consumer just wants convenience. Digital wins in that category every single time. And the average consumer is what counts in the photo business, as well as most other businesses. It's only a matter of a very few years (if that) before most people won't be able to find a place to have film developed in their city.
The only thing keeping the film business afloat right now are people who haven't upgraded to digital for one of several reasons. And those people are beginning to get with the program.

Isn't that what Mitch said? That DST will help the Indiana economy? Yea, right.

Yeah! And just think, the camera "Flashcube" industry is suffering due to DST too!
I'm with you "Ditch Mitch"!! What's it going to be next? The headlight makers for the John Deere yard tractors??!! Where's it all going to end??!!(pass me a PBR, will ya?)

Well, it's official. This Friday night will be our last night to receive any film to process. That's all, folks!
