I would like to thank everyone for coming out to pay respect to my brother. He was buried on August 25, 2006 at the Veteran's cemetery in Killeen, Texas. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. We will be investigating what happened and those responsible will be punished.

I was lucky enough to work with Paul at TDCJ-ID (Coffield) and at FCI Seagoville. We spent many good times off the clock as well. The update I got that the woman below his apt had an oxygen tank. The rest is pretty obvious.Mark and Carl,he is missed on both a friendship and fellow Correctional Officer level.I can honestly say that I can not think about anything bad about him.

I have family that lives at Foxwood Apts. and I was there the night of the fire. I got to the apts. a few minutes after the firetrucks arrived. I just wanted to say that the Mgr., Asst. Mgr. and one of the maintenance personnel of the property handled the situation with professionalism. I saw the Asst. Mgr. (my mom told me who she was) running down the street and the first thing she did was to check on the people that lived in that bldg. Later the Mgr. arrived and she found the Asst. and together they talked with various fire personnel. I would just like to say that these women are extraordinary they showed how much they love these people and the compassion they showed was unbelievable. I saw the news where Paul (maintenance) was labeled a hero. The night of the fire he truly was a hero. If he had not done what he did others would have lost their lives. I don't know who owns the property but I hope they realize what kind of employess they have. I helped with the donations of clothes, food etc. These people stayed up for hours on end helping whenever and wherever they could. God Bless You All.

I just read the posting above. I just wanted to add that I heard the Asst. Mgr. went to Paul's funeral and that his death hit her pretty hard. My mom told me he use to live in her building before he moved to the other apt. My mom talked to her in the office after the funeral and she told her that when Paul first came into the office for an apt. She told him that she drove a Dodge truck also and she wanted him to move into her bldg. because Dodge people need to stick together.

I saw the article in yesterday's Mesquite News and they are saying the fire was accidental. I didn't know if you had seen the paper but thought you might want to know.

The Melancon's are a strong and loving family. It is so good to see that Paul is still being remembered. Write something when you think of him. We all need to remember him for the special person he is. It is especially heart warming for the family to continue hearing from friends. We are not accepting the reports that the fire was caused by human error. We will press the fire department to continue an exhaustive investigation.

I live in the that was across from Paul. I used to see Paul everyday when I left for work - we worked the same hours. A Good Man is going to be missed around Foxwood.
THe family should know: The Mesquite firefithers said it was an accidental fire, well that is not actually true. There were several complaints about that man and his girlfriend. There was constant drug activty in and out of that apartment. The managment had warned the tenant that it would not be tolerated and he would be evicted if no stopped. all they ever did was warn that old dude. They never actually did any thing. It was known around the complex (especially by the people who lived around him) that the funny either smell was always around late durning. I would not smoke on my patio at night because of the fear I waould ignite the fumes. I made a couple of complaint but do not know that they actually did anything about it. Seems like all they were worried about was keeping complex full. By the way that is not the only apartment in this complex that was suspected. I am sorry I had not found this until today but I HOPE THE FAMILY READS THIS. If you do and want to cotact me I will be checking periodicly and will send a direct link to my phone/email if someone would like tyo speak to me. I still live there and want to keep my identy a secret unless the family would like me to make a statment. The reason I know what was going on is because I have a insider a the complex and am prevy to all that goes on around that place.
