Public school education? I guess it is alright for a private school's students to drink underage and smoke pot then threaten to harm a student that supposedly reported it!

Greg, I don't know where you went to school but this is typical teenage behavior. |
|
I don't know that I would call this "typical". This guy set somebody on fire for crying out loud! The headline makes it sound like this kid was banned from school for insulting the kids religion, which really isn't the case here. Sure he may have been insulting the kid because of his religion, but he set him on fire!! That goes way beyond teasing or religious intolerance, right into the realm of psychotic. |

Well put - I agree!!! |

I agree totally with you and Irreverent One... I was baffled when I read that they were providing the student with private homeschooling-- when what they should ahve done is expelled him the school district completely. As for the charge of "criminal mischeif"... setting another student on fire goes wayyyyyy beyond "mischeif" Thank God that the worst damage was singed hair-- if he hadnt been able to douse the fire or remove his turban fast enough he could have been very seriously burned and injured! I dont care who you are-- criminal battery and aggravated assault charges would have been much more fitting. |
Great question!! I hope the schmuck realizes that he is damn near getting a mulligan for this prank. Had he been an adult, and done this on a bus or other public place, he would be in, as H.W. used to say, in deep doo-doo. If he learns from this and gets on with his life we all win. If he learns nothing and goes on attempting to immolate others, we'll have to house him for decades in the graybar hotel. |

I went to a graduation where the kids in one row pinned together all of the robes in the row in front them. Pretty funny when they tried to go up and get their diplomas. That's a teenage prank. Assault with bodily harm is not.

Glue pubes to the kid's face and make him wear a turban for 30 days.

Pretty scary when you see the realities of intolerance in our society reflected by the acts of youth. This vile act was not only dispicable, but warrants criminal prosecution in my opinion. We can't just go around lighting people on fire, are you kidding me?

The kid should be expelled, period. What he did was assault pure and simple. Assault...a criminal act. He should go to prison for it.
Forget the homeschooling. If he wants a degree he can get a GED...after he gets out of prison. |
