Chiefswife, you are correct I have not ask any questions on the CVFD page and the reason being is they will not produce any facts in writing all you get is opinions and so and so said. I will be glad to ask questions if you can assure me I will get factual answers, first question being: "will you provide to me a list of firemen (names) and how much training they have had and their level with the state of NC," This would be the firemen on staff just before the contract was not signed. If you will answer that question for me I will go to CVFD page and ask many more questions and keep an open mind about it.
The website has their newsletter on the homepage outlining the events that lead to the end of their contract. As far as training, I do not have specifics. As many of the FF have served for years, it would be a mammoth undertaking involving several departments (for some) to get comprehensive training records. Specific questions, I assume you mean the FireFighter I and II, would have to be directed to them. New FF were given a period of time (I think 18 months but am not positive) to complete their basic training and specific training classes. If they did not, they were dismissed. Such inquiries would have to be directed to the CVFD. I will let them know to expect your questions.

Thank you for your response, you have given more info above than the Board of Directors have given in almost two years. I guess I was not clear enough on my question, I only meant the firemen who are on the roster now. I don't like saying so and so said, but the info I have heard is only 9 firemen are certified out of approx 30 on the roster, again this is heresay and I do not know this for a fact. In the next couple days I will contact CVFD website and ask more questions, thanks for the input.

Bobby Padgett as a member of the Board of Directors of the CVFD is part of the problem not the solution,

Ronnie Murphy will say anything to get votes and has admitted to running to fulfill a personal agenda rather than for the true interest of the town,

Chris Barfield as a write-in should be written- off

Thurman Linker, means well but needs better research and understanding of the true facts before making unfounded comments might be a lesser evil than the aforementioned

Leaving Sam Carpenter as the most viable challenger,

Sandra Ware is a long-time servant both volunteer and elected and

Tammy Lawrence has proven through her service that she has the best interest of the town at heart.

ps Quite a bit of crap on this topic. Will someone please take a pooper scooper to most of the preceeding 202 comments and rid the town of this mess that tarnishes our community.

Got home to find a campaign 'postcard' from Tammy Lawrence IN my mailbox and one from Chris Barfield ON it. Though I welcome neither candidate's drivel-on-a-card, at least Tammy Lawrence was responsible enough to advertise legally.

She obviously was aware of the Federal Postal Law regarding attaching anything to the outside of a mailbox. Mr. Barfield, by avoiding paying postage, not only breaks the law but steals from the post office as well. So much for running an "honest campaign". It isn't enough to see their names littering the roadsides....they want to clutter my home as well?

Ms. Lawrence's card went in the bin. Though many of Chris' cards have wound up being beighborhood litter, the one on my box will go to the post office for them to handle. I'm sure his defense is ignorance of the law. No excuse in my book. He should have taken a bit of his own self-important advice and researched the legality of doing such a thing.

Cramerton, did you anyone consider that the chief
of the CVFD was the bully and not the town.
I would like to hear your comments.
I believe you may be on to something. I know that anytime anyone came on the fire department that he saw as a threat they did not last long. RIP Rodney Y.

Ok, the town has done what it wanted and the eventual result is still yet to be seen. However, I have had enough of Dan's qualifications and "required" training questioned. He is one of few people willing to stand up for what is right even in light of being unpopular. The decisions he made were for the best and many of those decisions were very difficult to make. His role was not to make friends with anyone. If you or anyone else questions his qualifications, here is an excerpt from recent communication from Larry Hughes, the Deputy Director of NCOI OSFM: "NC certification is a voluntary certification, NC has firefighters that are well qualified but do not go through the certification process, we would also not have his training records if he wasn’t going through a certification class. "
REALLY....REALLY. Wouldn't that be like a doctor's medical license being a voluntary certificate or a police officer not being BLET certified....oh wait oops, did I say that!

it appears "Topix" has censored me, my last few post have been deleted and I had a warning from Topix about my post. So much for having the freedom of speech on here, I made no threats toward anyone and my post are far more conserative than some of what you other people post. Oh well no big loss don't like arguing with people who will not post their real name right Mr. Seegars?

Just a recap....1)the equipment that was indirectly funded with citizens' money sits in storage; 2)the old fire fighters have mostly gone to other areas even though they live in Cramerton; 3) the building now stands in limbo; 3) a neighboring town's department has been overtaken and their officers put out (many of whom were in support of the new deal); 4) spending for fire service is more than $100k more than the original bill would have been; 5) the town was without local fire coverage for nearly a year; 6) it STILL isn't over. All because some people at town hall didn't like a couple of people in charge at the old FD. The level of childish dislike, and even hate, this town has come to represent is beyond astonishing. NOTHING in this whole situation was done because it was the best for the citizens of Cramerton. The town has split....Such a lose-lose for everyone involved.

It's finally over...though I don't agree with the settlement terms, it was past time to bury this whole mess and move on. It is embarrassing to live in a town that has become so juvenile.
