McAdenville Schools

I was curious about what people think of McAdenville Elementary School and Holbrook Middle School? I was doing a little online research and noticed they don't rank very high on the Great Schools website which is supposed to be based on test scores. The website, however, doesn't go into much depth as far as those test scores are concerned. The parent reviews of both schools were also a few years old. Just wanted some recent opinions.

Also, does anyone know if it's hard to transfer your children to different schools within Gaston County?

Thanks for your help!

Our son attends McAdenville Elementary and we are very pleased. His teacher is great and their benchmark scores are placing them high among the other elementary schools in the county. There is a new Principal this year and she is energetic and making things happen. The kids love her and from what I hear the staff really likes her too. As for transferring to other schools, it is becoming much more difficult. The county offices are truly sticking to the idea that children need to attend school in their district unless there are very strong and evidence based decisions for the transfer. Hope I helped some!

When the new elementary school is built in Cramerton, McAdenville will be closed.

My child attends McAdenville Elementary and we have been pleased. The school is very small - I believe fewer than 150 kids - that's all grades (K-5th) combined! The only downside we've experienced is that because the school is so small, there's typically only one class per grade level - so if you're kid doesn't click with a teacher or is having trouble making friends, switching classes may not be an option.

I would love to see comments on Holbrook Middle because since our kids will be headed there unless we come up with another plan.

One day McAdenville Elementary will be closed. It is too expensive to operate. Should have been closed two years ago, except that the school board members do not know what to do what's in the best interest of the Gaston County taxpayer.

Had heard about the prospective new middle school, but was unaware of a new elementary. From what area besides McAdenville would the students come?

Both of my children go to Mcadenville, and I did as well. I love our little school. The teachers and administration are so caring and are willing to help at any point.
We live in Kings Mountain, and I drive that distance just so they can have that small school atmosphere.

New elementary school in Cramerton is on hold (school system says they don't need it because enrollments are down). A few years back the school board tried to close McAdenville Elementary, demolish it and sale the land. The Pharr Family stepped in and reminded the county that they own the land, not the county. Nothing can go on that land, but a school without Pharr approval. McAdenville will not close anytime soon.

judging from today's newspaper, all the money will be going to Stuart Cramer High...
