Say it isn't so Joe, heard you were near the point of agreeing that your fellow west virginians were all criminals and need someone else telling them what to do with their guns.

Time and time again Joe shows that all he is is a lap dog for Reid, Pelosi and Obama and is in lock step with them in almost every issue.

When are the WV voters going to wake up and realized that the people you keep sending to washington hate the very essence of what you are and are set on taking away your liberties and make you as dependant upon gov as they can....go ahead keep begging.

Are you telling the world that you are against back ground checks for all commercial gun sales? This is just a question that requires either a yes or no.

In the last year over 15,000 felons tried to illegally buy a gun and was stopped at least at that time....wanna know how many were prosecuted by the justice department for committing a crime....less than 50.

This is the big lie about gun control...there are more than enough laws already on the books but certain areas refuse to enforce them....Chicago is a perfect example of that....tightest gun rules but most lax enforcement....they refuse to lock up the career criminals..always a slap on the wrist.

Continuing to pass laws for the law abiding is rediculous and won't solve any gun crimes.

What liberals want you to believe is that this will be a universal background check...that is pure baloney.

What it should be called is a waste of time background check for the law abiding citizen...it definately isn't going to be universal.

If the Obama justice dept. would fully prosecute those breaking the current law they law breakers wouldn't be on the street to cause harm.

As I said all this would do is put another burden on law abiding people and would have zero impact on the criminal element....just another feel good idea from liberals that doesn't do its intended purpose.

Additionally the bill that is currently being debated in the Senate would have had zero impact on the last 4 big mass shooting...zero...yet the dems are able to fool their voters by using the families from it to push it through....their end goal is to take as many guns from everyone including law abiding WV citizens.

Its great to see that there is a majority of people in the senate that understands our rights on guns better than Obama, Pelosi and Reid.

Unfortunately for WV..your senator Joe isn't one of them....of all the 100 senators he is on the wrong side again and again....why does WV keep electing those that want to impose on your rights and side with liberal democrates....Joe is so wrong for WV..wake up people and start making your votes count.

I doubt you even know what Joe was sponsoring. It made sense and did not infringe on the 2nd amendment in any way. Other Senators were trying to add a bunch of anti-gun crap, not Manchin.

Your statement has one correct sentence in " The majority of the people in the senate" That is where it ends. The majority of the people in this country were in favor of background check. There is absolutely no reason to not have background checks and several thousand reasons every year to have them, just read the paper. Will background checks totally prevent people who should not have guns from getting them. No not all, but it certainly would cut down on the number and that is a starting place to save lives in this country.

First of all I will say that I am veteran! There are thousands of veterans right now returning from a war zone and coming back with PTSD. Do you believe that they should be able to obtain weapon? There are millions of people on anti depressant drugs for every reason possible. There are millions of people on other mind altering substances You should know that. Just look around your community. How many people do you see daily in our little community of Craigsville and Nicholas County that you would be concerned about if you knew they could go buy a gun with no back ground check. Now multiply that number by millions!!! Do you believe they should be able to obtain a weapon with no background check?

The only reason this did not pass is your elected officials are afraid of NRA money. They would rather have that money than potentially save some lives in our country.

It is about money. It is not about saving lives.

The background checks Joe was pushing would have done zero on the issue of gun violence...that is one of the reasons it was voted down.

The second reason is the fact that Dingy Harry was caught on tape calling it an "anti gun" bill...which most reasonable people knew from the beginning.

If you want to pass a bill that will actually do something about gun violence you need to start with the main causes...one of them is mental health...the othat main one is criminals not being prosecuted with the current laws on the books.

Like I said..this bill would have done nothing to curb gun violence...all it was going to end up being was a check on law abiding citizens...and for that it would have been a huge waste of time and money.

That bill wouldn't have saved any lives....get a clue.

You are right it would not stop lunatic from killing people, it would, however, have made it harder for criminals and the mentally ill to obtain weapons. That is all it would have done but that is a good thing. Would it have prevented a Newtown? No but it didnt not infringe on law abiding peoples rights and if it prevented on criminal or nut from getting a gun it was worth it. It was stupid to vote down the background check bill. All the other stuff was crap that did infringe on peoples right and should have been rejected, but not the background checks Joe sponsored. That is all he sponsored, none of that other crap.

The background check bill would not have stopped one criminal from getting guns if they chose to get them....all it would do is stop or hinder the law abiding person.

In fact you can't name one mass shooting where this bill would have affected the outcome...go ahead and try..good luck.

But the story below is what you get in WV from out of control liberals who have no clue what is going on....because its not about stopping gun violence.

A West Virginia eight-grader was arrested and charged with two counts of obstruction and disturbing the education process Thursday after he wore a National Rifle Association T-shirt to school.

Jared Marcum, a 14-year-old student at Logan Middle School in Logan, reported to 13 News that his NRA T-shirt with a picture of a gun on it ignited a dispute between him and a teacher that ended in his arrest.

And Liberal Joe has no problem with this.....this should disgust all WV voters.

The above 3 are the perfect low information Obama voter.

People should take note that you can't discuss on the facts so you end up just calling people names...go ahead and keep your head buried in the sand and enjoy living in a gov dependant state ran by the 1%'ers you continue to elect year after year and wonder why things never change......look in the mirror and you will find the problem.

Mrs.Wondering. The facts are: Background checks would in no way negatively affect life in The United States. There would be a positive result. I don't think anyone can tell you how mahy lives would be saved but common sense says lives would be saved. If you are against that then you are the problem!
