The 2 young men killed yesterday were Timmy Morris of Craigsville and Albert Milam of Craigsville. Apparently they were in a car coming toward Allingdale on the wrong side of the road in the curve. The driver, Milam, swerved back to his right lane, hit a telephone pole, clipped it, then hit a pine tree head-on. Both were dead at the scene of the accident.

2 killed in Nicholas accident

from staff reports

Two Nicholas County men were killed Saturday when their vehicle went out of control and clipped a utility pole before striking a tree head-on, police said.

Nicholas sheriffÂ’s deputies identified the victims as Albert Curtis Milam, 42, of Powers Road, Craigsville, the driver of the 2003 GMC Denali, and his passenger, Timothy Wayne Morris, 42, of Little Beaver Road, Calvin.

Deputies said the two were traveling north on W.Va. 20 in Cottle shortly before 1:30 p.m. when the accident occurred. A witness told deputies the vehicle rounded a curve in the wrong lane, and when the driver tried to get back into his lane, he lost control, causing the vehicle to fishtail. The vehicle then hit a utility pole, snapping it in half, and continued on before striking a tree head-on.

Deputies said the two men, neither of whom was wearing a seatbelt, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Redi-Care Ambulance and the Craigsville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident.

Deputy D.W. Silman is the investigating officer, assisted by Deputy M.A. Hanks. Deputies said road and weather conditions were dry and clear.
