Seriously, Did you expect that driver to confront those two drunk young adults in the presence of a bus load of children ?? He chose to take it slow and easy, until he had some help and he knew the kids would be safe. My opinion - He used some good old fashion common sense.
I agree. Everyone should just wait until ALL the facts are laid out. People jump to conclusions. I imagine the driver isn't allowed to defend himself for right now.

To the one who keeps calling those who disagree with them morons ect..:
YEAH. OK. WHATEVER.

Where I live and where my son goes to school. The bus driver has to call each students house before starts for the year . If there is a new child starting school. The child must be driven the first few days of school until they can get proper Id of the child and legal papers about permanent address and so on. No child is allowed to ride a bus unless everything has been cleared and the drivers have photos of the children who are riding. I live in a City and I know if a city can do this so can a small town. The buses here do not stop even if it is their route unless they have proper paper work to pick the child up. The bus will never stop to pick up a child just because the child is out there waiting. This driver should know each and every student on his route. If he doesn't then how can the parents or anyone else hold him liable if something were to happen. He should have never picked those 2 up. Its sad that people are making a big deal out of these parents being so angered. What if the drunks wouldve caused a commotion and the bus driver wrecked , Would that still be ok ?

no childs life should be put in danger and thats a fact. can anybody climb on a bus full of kids these days? mistakes happen but the boe were total asses to the parents that called which didnt look good. nething could have happened between craigsville an richwood where they dont have radio signal to get help so it wasnt the safest protocol. i do agree driver should be punished so he recognizes the seriousness of the offense

<quoted text>how dare you take up for this driver. he should be fired. if my child were on that bus they would do something about him.I promise you that. all parents do not think that it is ok for there children to be around drunks.
oh whatever...you may have TRIED to do something about it, but you would have ended up doing nothing more than embarassing your kid and making an ass out of yourself. what are you gonna do, go everywhere with the kid to make sure there are no drunks around him/her? fact is, nothing would be done, because nobody cares. they have more important things to worry about than some idiot parent causing trouble

It is amazing how in civilized communities and school districts that adults are held accountable for their actions! In modern society,It is NOT alright for drunk civilians to board a public school bus and get a free drunk ride to their destination! In a civilized community the bus driver is responsible for the actions on the bus and ,If He/She is at fault they will no longer have a job and or be reprimanded! If the offenders had a weapon or forced children to do things against their will it would be a different story right? Well,The opportunity was there for them to do so.Good thing they were to drunk to follow out any act upon the children. WV needs to get up to date with what is going on in AMERICA and in other schools,In many schools around the Nation children are NOT allowed to carry back packs that are cloth they have to have CLEAR see through book bags, Parents MUST sign in when getting their child from school,Everyone entering the school MUST show ID. West Virginia is falling on the way side at the expense of our children. Shame on West Virginia School Districts for ignoring the laws and risk's to children .

You people have went from drinking to guns now. These where 2 young adults that got on a bus. Not 2 old biker drunks with tattoos, ect. The mistake was made. Your was a drunken prank, nobody got hurt, those kids are greatly being punished. As for the bus driver who knows what will happen to him. What was the right thing to do? Hard to tell. It's a lose lose situation for him. If he would of stayed there and radioed for the police u parents would of had a fit over that cause your children was on a bus with intoxicated "adults" . From what I heard the kids laughed and talked with them all the way to Richwood so not all the kids was scared. There is no right thing to do in this situation. The two got put in jail and are facing charges. If you are that concerned go to the next school board meeting and voice your concern about the driver.

I've only heard one parent screaming her kids were scared to death. Maybe that reflects on that mom's parenting, rather than the situation. The bus driver handled the situation just fine.

Ok, so Im not sure who the driver was, but last year during a bad snow storm and the kids were sent home like 3.5 hours early, my childs bus driver didn't pick up the kids from the middle school at RMS. At least 18 of which had just rode that same bus to school a couple hours before. The high school got off the bus to inform us that none of the middle school kids were picked up.. HOW DO YOU NOT NOTICE THAT MANY MISSING KIDS? Maybe the same way you don't notice you are picking up two drunks by the road. YOU DON'T REGARD children's safety enough to watch what the heck you are doing. Enough Said. Kudos to the mom that is upset. I was too last year. But the BOE and transportation director didnt give a crap. Glad my kids are leaving this county in about a year! I want my taxes to do their job. It doesnt happen here. Going somewhere that the BOE is held accountable for their actions, or their neglect.

This could have happened anywhere and actually it has on occasion. They were young enough and the first day so he thought they were students. THe only way to prevent this would be to have the bus driver have photo id's of the kids and the kids have photo id's to prove who they are. That would cost a lot of money. No one was hurt and I also think the driver acted appropriately considering the circumstances.
The first 2 days of school the oldest child would have been in 8th grade. Richwood High School students did not have to go until 8/20/12. I know good and well these 2 did not look like middle school students, and all bus driver should have known that the high school students were not on there. To your idea of photo IDs well all Nicholas County students a employees have photo IDs.
