Think about that. If they did have a gun and he had stopped and confronted them very bad things could have happened. I agree yall are trying to blow it out of proportion. It was handled properly and no one was in danger. They are in jail in serious trouble, the school kids were fine, what more do you want?

This could have happened anywhere and actually it has on occasion. They were young enough and the first day so he thought they were students. THe only way to prevent this would be to have the bus driver have photo id's of the kids and the kids have photo id's to prove who they are. That would cost a lot of money. No one was hurt and I also think the driver acted appropriately considering the circumstances.
It would not cost any money, in fact all kids in school have school IDs now, my child has had a school id for many years now. The bus driver did not act properly.

For a FACT 1 he knew only middle school was open. The high school doesnt start until monday. FACT 2 the kids were scared. FACT 3 you could smell the alcohol on them. FACT 4 look at Bryans pick he does not look like a high schooler. FACT 5 hes drove that route for years so you would assume he would know who should and should not be riding the bus.

<quoted text>how dare you take up for this driver. he should be fired. if my child were on that bus they would do something about him.I promise you that. all parents do not think that it is ok for there children to be around drunks.
I don't think they should be there either but tell me how you would have known, should he do breath tests on all kids? I bet your child or you has never seen a drunk, heard a bad word or you have never taken a drink of alchol?????????? I pray not but we don't know who we are around sometimes. He protected your child, they were arested and posing as a student not left behind. If he had known, they wouldn't have been on the bus. It might have caused more problems if let there where other children could have been or even upset them to do harm. They were watched, caught by surprise and nothing happened except they were arrested as they should have been.if you don't feel it was right drive everyday yourself. I know many dangerous days during bad weather that he got them to school safe and sound but didn't hear anything about that. Some people just like to be ugly and try to cause trouble. I feel sorry for YOU. You will be judged by the same judgement you use according to God

Are you on the school board? Do you work for the board of education? I don't and so therefore I have never seen a copy of their emergency procedure plan. maybe the bus driver did violate protocal (on which case he will face consequences) however if he did what he was supposed to do then good for him. But unless you have first hand knowledge of the incident & board procedure then stop acting like this guy is a harm to others.

Bottom line this isn't protocol. He obviously knew they were drunk as the police were called. He knew they shouldn't have been on the bus because the High School wasn't back in yet. He should not have allowed them on the bus and should have called the police from where he was and waited for them to arrive. His actions put every child on that bus in danger. If they had been carrying a knife or gun, it could have been awful. Brittany S. isn't being dramatic. I personally know her and she is an excellent mother and has every right to be outraged. If it were my child, I wouldn't have been as nice as she is. I would have already met with a lawyer and filed a lawsuite for child endangerment against the driver and the school system. Which, I strongly urge all parents who had a child on that bus to do, if the driver is not terminated from his job.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO LEARN THAT NOT ONLY DID THIS ISSUE ARISE IT DOESN'T ALWAYS INVOLVE KIDS THAT AREN'T EVEN IN SCHOOL. LAST YEAR ON MY DAUGHTERS BUS THERE WERE SEVERAL JR. HIGH KIDS PICKED UP AT THEIR STOPS AND THEY WERE DRUNK AND ON PILLS THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES THESE KIDS WERE TAKEN TO THE SCHOOL AND THEN THE POLICE WERE CALLED. SO THIS SEEMS TO BE THE PROTOCAL FOR HANDLING THIS TYPE OF SITUATION. WAS MY DAUGHTERS BUS DRIVER SUPPOSE TO STOP THE BUS AND PUT THE KIDS OFF THE BUS AS SOON AS HE FIGURED OUT THEY WERE DRUNK? I COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT YOU PARENTS WOULD BE SAYING ABOUT THAT. YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.... KEEP YOUR KID ON THE BUS IF HE/SHE IS DRUNK BUT STOP AND PUT SOMEONE ELSES KID OFF THE BUS. IT IS A TERRIBLE SITUATION BUT I FEEL IT WAS HANDLED CORRECTLY. HE KEPT THE KIDS SAFE AND THE SITUATION WAS UNDER CONTROL,WHICH WE SHOULD BE THANKING GOD THIS WAS THE OUTCOME. THERE ARE SO MANY WHAT IF'S THAT WE COULD BE ON HERE ALL DAY. BUT THE FACTS ARE SIMPLE HE KEPT THE SITUATION UNDER CONTROL AND KEPT THE KIDS SAFE. YOU COULD ALWAYS SAY IF THEY HAD A GUN....BUT WHAT IF HE PASSED THEM UP INSTEAD OF PICKING THEM UP AND THEY FIRED THE GUN AT THE BUS? DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ARE IN ALL THE SCHOOLS MY DAUGHTER GOES TO SUMMERSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THERE WERE SEVERAL KIDS FROM 6th GRADE TO 8th GRADE THAT WERE EXPELLED FOR ALCOHOL USE AND DRUG USE AT SCHOOL ADD THAT TO THE KIDS THAT WERE ON HER BUS AND THE NUMBERS START TO ADD UP. SO YOUR CHILD MORE THAN LIKELY HAS BEEN ON THE BUS WITH DRUNK KIDS OR KIDS ON DRUGS BEFORE THIS OR WILL BE ON THE BUS WITH ONE OR MORE THIS YEAR.THIS IS SAD BUT TRUE.KIDS AS YOUNG AS 5th GRADE HAS BEEN CAUGHT WITH ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.SO LETS ALL JUST BE THANKFUL NO ONE WAS HURT.

@ Freddie: Just because someone sues doesn't mean it's about money. Courts are also a means of change.

And if you think it was handled properly, you are either clinically insane or irretrievably stupid.

Seriously, Did you expect that driver to confront those two drunk young adults in the presence of a bus load of children ?? He chose to take it slow and easy, until he had some help and he knew the kids would be safe. My opinion - He used some good old fashion common sense.

Why dont u ppl who are on here complaining about this man's ability to do his job, get off ur fat ass and get that dunkin stick outa ur mouth and go file an application for his job. I feel sure with his record he could get another job some place else. I seriously doubt anyone of you will do so much as take off ur night clothes b4 noon, let alone gettin a job. If ur child was devestated by these two drunks its because they have been around ppl who get drunk and act like dumbasses. Most kids I have seen who are around drunks for the first time have no idea what is wrong with em. So unless ur child is exposed to alot of friends an family drunks then they have no clue what these two idiots were doin....

I would say more like call and express your outrage that he is still allowed to drive a bus!
